Thanks for the choc fudge cake recipe Busy Mee - we had it as a dessert yesterday when we had guests and it went down very well - and so easy to make! I will definitely be adding that to my repertoire! Thank youMortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Glad it turned out well. It is definitely easy and works every time.
I tend to stick to a few tried and tested recipes, as I don't have time or the capacity for the stress if recipes don't turn out right :rotfl:0 -

It is pay day tomorrow and I have just finished a final bit of money shuffling, as some work expenses had dropped in. I spilt it, to round the holiday fund up to £3k and split the rest between the bills pot and the odds and sods account.
I thought I might as well do the August update and nothing much will change overnight
August 2019
Repayment Mortgage. £53,779.34
IO. Mortgage. £169,000.00
Total Mortgage. £222,779.34
Monthly savings. £1,800. :T This included some extra ISA interest
Total savings. £81,300 :T We are in the 80s
Savings offset mortgage to. £141,479.34
Other pots
Holiday fund. £3000 :T
Annual bills £303.41
Odds and sods. £333.42
Spending for Month. £1230
I am really pleased on a number of fronts. We have saved more than the "normal" £1500, thanks to some ISA interest that dropped in. I would really like to round this up with an extra £200 next month if we can.
We have also managed to save £3000 for our holiday and will be able to cover the credit card bill comfortably. So much better than lurching from large credit card bill to to credit card bill.
We have also started to fill the annual bills pot up again just in time for Mr Mee's car tax in September and the Odds and Sods account is looking healthy again. I want to use this for Mr Mee's Birthday trip and presents.
All in all, I feel that we are getting "straight" money wise, and saving up for things rather than putting them on the credit card and using our salary up each month to cover the payment. Good job too, as Mr Mee only has two more pay days left and 9 weeks to work :T
Our spending was just £30 over budget, but this included over £300 spent on eating out  This was exceptional because of a couple of family commitments ( paid for all four of us) and some catching up with friends. Grocery shopping was £330 for the month, but we are well stocked up and I am hoping for a cheaper September.0 -
Sounds good, getting off the credit card float is a good thing in most of the financial approaches. I use my credit card solely for protection and points. Everything has to be covered as it's spent rather than waiting for the next instalment of the wages to go in.Outstanding mortgage: £23,181 (December 19)

It will go really quickly now Mr Mee is in the last two months. My DH just got his final pay-packet and Monday is back to school day (minus him). Our credit card bills are from hell this month and next but the holiday related spend is worth it. Back last night and just catching up on my favourite diaries! (my own, neglected since the day before we left the UK!)Save £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Wishing - that is definitely the position I want to be in. We use M&S (for the vouchers) and Barclaycard for the cash back to cycle most of our spends through.
Suffolk Lass - Great to see you back, it feels like you have been away ages. I bet Mr SL will feel great on Monday morning when he doesn't have to go to work. I will be interested to hear how you adjust to you both being home.0 -
You are doing really well on all fronts  Great holiday fund and its always good to have pots filled so that the CCs don't have to be bashed.0

Great progress Busy Mee.
I, too, am hoping for a cheaper September (grocery-wise, I may not have much luck in other respects!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
