Morning all! Hay fever and drug related night sweats (charming!) resulted in a fitful night's sleep but it's a lovely morning and was up at 6am.
Been pottering around for a while and am going to take the dog to the park for a walk in a minute before it warms up too much. Then, I'm off running......want to get a longer run done this morning - got to get 12km done before Friday to meet my goal for the week so I need to stretch myself a bit further today.
Hopefully, the weather will stay good and I hope to spend quite a bit of time in the garden today, relaxing and making the most of the last day of my holidays.
It's funny to think that I have just 6 and a half weeks left in my current job - that will fly by and will be over before I know it - still have mixed feelings about it all but onwards and upwards.....
Small jobs for today....
1. Hoover out the car
2. Get clothes ready for work tomorrow
3. Order a Father's Day card
4. Give the shower cubicle a good scrub
5. Clean the conservatory
Right, better get dressed and get the dog out.....hope everyone has a lovely Sunday in the sun0 -
Fastest 4km run yet completed this morning after the dog walk. I've looked over my stats (I use MapMyRun) and I can see real progress over the past two months. I'm enjoying it now too ( not the last 500m usually!) and always feel better for having done it. I'm surprising myself - I'm not a natural runner and it's taken hard work to get to where I am but I can now run 5km in about 33 mins which was unthinkable a couple of months ago. Quite proud of myself
Have also hoovered out the car and ordered my Father's Day card to be delivered directly to dad. Mum will hide it until it's time.
Decided to read in the garden from about 10am and have finished my Think Small book about achieving goals. Would recommend it if anyone fancies a bit of structured motivation - well written and very easy to read. It's really warm and sunny here so it's been lovely topping up the tan whilst learning something new.
Will have a couple more hours in the garden then I'm going to OHs for a while - he wants to look at, and possibly book, the summer holiday. Another thing that would have been unthinkable a couple of months ago.....0 -

Oh I will!!!
I've left him browsing holidays in Cuba with instructions to send me links to anything interesting.....
He made tea, was chatty and optimistic - he seems to have really turned a corner since I made a stand and I think he knows I can live without him and has really bucked his ideas up. Fingers crossed it's a permanent epiphany
Going to watch the last episode of A Very English Scandal and try to have an early night - real life starts again tomorrow......0 -
Hmmmm.....
Woke up at 5am with stomach cramps and was promptly sick and have a very badly upset stomach - can't stray far from the bathroom....
I've had to phone in sick for the first time in years.....
Went back to bed eventually for an hour and feel a bit better now - hopefully it was just something I've eaten and will work its way through.
Will have a quiet morning and then if things seem to have settled down I'll take the dog for a walk and to get some fresh air.0 -
Glad that OH seems to have taken the kick up the proverbial on board.... long may it continue
Tummy bug sounds nasty. I hope it passes quickly. Drink plenty of water and take care of yourself ie if you need another day off tomorrow then take it. XI Believe.....

Thanks Joey and Chrystal - feeling a bit better. Things seem to have subsided somewhat, hopefully it was just something I ate but OH had the same and is fine. Have showered, changed the bed and taken the dog for a 30 min walk to blow away the cobwebs. Just feel a bit out of sorts and tired now. I'm sure I'll be fine tomorrow.
It's a good start to the diet that was due to start today I suppose
On the plus side, I've not used any diesel today and haven't spent anything - small victories in the face of adversity!
I'm also trying to use up dribs and drabs of toiletries before buying any new - since coming home from France I've finished off a moisturiser and eye cream and am on the dregs of another partly used set, a tube of expensive whitening toothpaste, a tin of hairspray, a hand wash and a shower gel. Not great leaps in a financial sense but it's decluttering and stopping me buying new before using up what's in the house already.
Another little positive - I saw an article on telly this morning about a new book co-written by Bill Clinton and James Patterson. My initial instinct was to buy it but, after googling it, I managed to talk myself out of it. I can wait until it's in paperback and costs about £3.50 in tesco or is in the library. Sounds like a small thing but I suppose all the little things add up.
I also found a stray packet of poo bags for the dog in the back of a drawer - will save me from having to buy more for a week or two, it's not the cost (they're cheap) but it's stopping me going into a shop for them and coming out with 5 other things that I can live without
My next money saving effort is to use up food before buying more - I'm a b*gger for shopping when there's still things in just because it's shopping day! I also think I have to feed a family of 4 when shopping, not just me and a greedy little dog - I'm going to really try in June to reduce the food spend. I have £200 budgeted and have spent £54 so far - I'd love to get it down to £150 and save the spare £50 towards the holiday.
There's £44 in my purse - that will last until the weekend as I have no plans and OH will be away from Friday - Sunday afternoon so I can have a frugal weekend. Really want to economise this month......0 -
Just a quick update so I can keep a record of the week.....
Exercise - 2x 30 mins walk
Cals -1470
Steps - 8100 (lower than normal as off work sick)
No alcohol0 -
Evening all!
Back at work today - I seem fine now thankfully, had a really poor night's sleep though - just couldn't drop off and stay asleep.
Today was the usual bedlam of exam season with two big exams, English and Geography. I had a 2 hour meeting after school too but managed to be home by 5pm ish. Took the dog to the park and then spent an hour in the garden in the sun and then caught up on some work email etc.
Big news for today - we've booked a week's holiday for late in the summer break to Ibiza to the place we've been about 4 or 5 times before so we know exactly what we're getting. It's sun, beach, nice food and a beautiful location - just what we'll need before going back to school. It was a bargain too - much less than I thought it might be, probably because of the night flights but it's too good a deal to miss and I have the money tucked away already so it's not a financial worry.
Hopefully, I'll be able to find another week somewhere for early in the holidays for a similar price as I'd really like to have two breaks if possible.
So, that's something to look forward to now!
Other small victories today - absolutely no spending, used up a couple of toiletries (box of tampons and a soap), ate tea from the fridge using up things that will run of date tomorrow, took lunch to work.
Exercise - 3 dog walks
Cals - 1500
Steps - 13000
One large glass of wine
Must do a run tomorrow!!!!0
