As my kitchen is mostly in crates, and the plumbing and electrics and floors are done it shouldn't be too bad. I just need to finalise the plans, choose some units and find a decorator and a fitter. But like you, not looking forward to the disruption. It will, however, be worth it!

Well done you! And well done roofer for doing a great job to your satisfaction.

Looking forward to hearing your journey through to getting new Windows and kitchen. These are both on our list of house improvements but still a way off yet.

You are right Greenbee. It will be worth it. :) For me it is essential if I want to sell and move on.

Thanks JoJo, Today I left a message asking for a home visit for a windows quote. I've decided to make Tuesdays (a day I WFH) quote day ;)

Don't forget - three quotes for everything!

I talked to my electrician last week about kitchens - he does electrics for someone who fits kitchens. Apparently Wickes carcasses are the same as Howdens and B&Q but cheaper because they're flat packed rather than pre-assembled but if you get a good fitter they're good quality. In terms of value for money, Ikea kitchens are probably the best quality, but have no utility gap at the back so tradesmen hate them. However, if you don't need the gap, they're great.

It is the quotes that slow the process down as I need quite a few for each job. If I had gone with the first quote for the roof I would have paid more than double ;)

It is different shopping when I am on a plant based diet. I picked up loads of veggies, some fruit, buckwheat pasta, quinoa, nuts and various jazzy bits like sundried toms and olives in Ald1. The bill is so much cheaper without meat or fish or dairy! ;) :money:

I finally got around to buying the cordless vacuum Dy@@@ V7. I like it a lot. I struggled to carry it home but carry it I did! I checked all prices and got it for the best price ;)

I treated myself to some flowers. They cost £5. I am not buying wine anymore so occasional flowers will be my new treat. I have not drunk wine at all April and only a few times in March so not buying wine saves me money too. :money:

I was so focused on the roofer coming I could not see beyond it so I did not make plans this bank holiday. I will garden, go to the gym to swim and steam, use my new cordless and do some big cleaning jobs like cleaning windows.

Plans or no plans, it is so nice to have time off isn’t it?

    Happy B/H weekend everyone :)

Thanks Greenbee I'd heard the same about IK£A and I totally agree about the quotes.

Beautiful 1950s coffee pot dropped and smashed. More upsetting than I thought it would be really :(

Dropped and smashed while being used and loved though rather than collecting dust, unloved in a cupboard.

Perhaps you can track down a replacement if you know the makers name.

    Have a hug though.:grouphug:
