Those kind of things are always more upsetting than you expect, but Parsniphead is right - it was being used and loved.

Plus it's one less thing to have to pack up when you do the kitchen... let me know if you need any boxed ;)

Totally agree, better it was being used and loved. And now you can adopt another one that needs to be used and loved...

Dropped and smashed while being used and loved though rather than collecting dust, unloved in a cupboard.

Perhaps you can track down a replacement if you know the makers name.

    Have a hug though.:grouphug:
Thanks parsniphead. I'm not going to chase another one. Looked it up and it is 1930s. It was just gathering dust it's true but it survived for 80+ years. I use it for a few weeks and it is game over. Ah well. It is only stuff...

That it isn't always enough, to be forgiven by others.
Sometimes, you have to learn to forgive yourself.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery
Today is a gift. That's why it is called the present.

happiness isn't achieved by getting extra things,
but by getting rid of the things that make you unhappy

Thanks Crystal. I bought it in Cornwall. It was by a Cornish potter and quite rare as it was an early example of a coffee press. I'm going to let it go and forget about it otherwise it is too upsetting. It's okay :)
I think what upset me as I don't have a functional kitchen so it is easy for stuff to get knocked over as I don't have any working surfaces to put things on. I should have washed and put it way somewhere safe. Never mind, No one died....

Same problem here. Most of my stuff is still where I can't get to it, so I have started to wonder whether I need it.

Given that you're getting kitchen quotes and starting to plan, and that boxing stuff up is boring, I'd recommend starting to pack up the nice stuff now and work out where you're going to store it all. That way by the time you have to clear everything out all the precious stuff will have been done carefully (and you'll probably have cleared a whole lot of crap out too!)

Thanks Greenbee, I don't really have a kitchen in that sense and most stuff is packed away which is why I brought said pot out of the packed away stuff..

Yes, thanks Rosa. I've seen stuff in TKM but now I don't own a coffee pot and I'm an addict so will pick up Le C pot so I don't have to buy twice. Nit very MSE but needs must. Will check TKM first.

Sounds like we have similar kitchens... Mine got a floor and lighting in January. But is now missing the door to the utility room. I have an ancient electric cooker which has to have an external thermometer as it overheats by around 30C. No work surfaces. A collection of old tables and a lot of crates and boxes!

My glasses live in my bedroom and bathroom...
