If I could get 15Mbit/s on ADSL I'd be happy enough.

Use the BT checker to see what your predicted speeds are and will be on FTTC... https://www.dslchecker.bt.com/

My line maxes out at 27-28 Mbit/s FTTC ... but only 2-3Mbit on ADSL. So the extra cost for FTTC is a must have for us.

So, how would you feel if your dsl checker looked like this ...

I have FTTP and get very fast speeds however it is expensive. BT pretty much have a monopoly with it.

We still have a phone line, for some reason we are still on a copper wire for our landline. When the fibre was installed they had no date to activate the phone on it.

Looking at the speed we can get via copper wire I'm debating going back when the contract is up. I'm not sure fibre justifies the price.

There's no need for a landline if you have FTTP. You could save on the line rental by porting your telephone number to a VOIP provider. I personally use Sipgate for many years. There's no monthly fee, call rates are much cheaper than BT's and Sipgate to Sipgate is free. There might be a one-time fee for porting your number in though.
