DCBL: telling me I have a ccj I don’t have.?

Hi, was hoping someone could offer some advice, would be much appreciated.

I received a letter from Dcbl:
Your overdue amount of £276.46 due to Excel Parking Services Limited in relation to County Court Judgement number D7D****V has been passed toDCBL to recover the debt on their behalf........

I believe that this is regarding a parking fine I got in early 2012 which I believed was unjustly issued and followed advice to deal with at the time. I received a couple more letters and nothing else until now.
I have received nothing from a court and have done a check with trust online and Experian, both have come back clear of ccjs.
Is this debt collectors trying their luck using lies or should I respond?
Thanks

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.

Thanks redx, yes I read that thread was still a bit unsure as to whether a ccj was in some way being prepared? Don’t even know and have been reading stories of people who have had them for years and not found out. I am presuming I would have to receive some sort of correspondence from the court?
    Thanks

For a small fee you can check the official register here https://www.trustonline.org.uk/

Alternatively you could join one of the free credit search schemes such as MSE credit club on this site or Noddle.

As has been previously mentioned you should also check with the court.

    Hi
Thanks waamo. I have done a check at trust online and also Experian, both came back clear of ccjs. Do you know if I have to check with the court local to me, the company or is there a centralised system?
    Thanks

I believe that a D prefix means the claim was first issued in 2017, and D7D does match the claim number in other Excel cases we've seen.

Really not sure what on earth is going on with these odd cases.

Can you ring the CCBC and ask them if that claim number was actually filed, allocated, and if so to which local court? The CCBC take a long time to answer, stick with it.

And why not contact Trading Standards and your MP, this makes no sense. If it looks like a rat and smells like a rat, quite often, I find, it's a rat. This needs exposing and/or resolving.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Thanks for all the responses, have emailed the court and will definitely be following this up with trading standards and my MP.

If anyone can now make any sense of this?
Received this back after emailing county court. Still don’t really understand if this has been judged upon or not or even when a decision has been made? My credit score is still excellent. And checks have come up with no judgement.
