Have you asked any local solicitors?
The set aside should utterly without doubt have gone your way. Sounds like they ambushed you with rubbish and you had no comeback.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Quick update for anyone interested.
Have spoken to a couple of solicitors and after giving them a brief summary they both said that the chances of me winning an appeal would be slim and I would be risking a lot of money with fees.
So begrudgingly I paid excel, £276 plus £255 in court costs, all for 14 minutes in a car park 6 years ago!! Well and truly mugged !!
A question for anyone who may be able to help:
Excel have offered a set aside with consent, I presume this is to get me to pay up quickly. The court costs for this I think are about £100 but it says on the letter it can still be rejected. Does this happen often? Obviously worth it if it clears the CCJ but I think if I wasted any more time and money on this it may push me over the edge!!0 -
If it's properly worded it should succeed, though no guarantee,!
Read up on set aside by cons to understand the process and the pitfalls!
The £100 fee is correct. No hearing.
If successful the CCJ is expunged from the records0 -
Thanks
Just had a feeling that because I had already tried to set aside they may deem me to be wasting their time or disrespecting the original decision.0
