DCBL ‘Notice of debt recovery received’

Can anyone help? I’ve just recieved a letter from DCBL On behalf of Vehicle control services limited in relation to county court judgement number xxxxxxxxxx. It’s for £254.92 + £75 recovery charge.

I don’t even remember details ot this and there’s no reference to reg mark or times etc. Also, as far as i’m aware I haven't had a CCJ. I’ve just had a loan approved so i can’t see that. How does a CCJ work, wouldn’t I have to go to court to get one?

What do I do?

Please advise

Thankyou

Jamo

no you do not have to "go to court" to get a CCJ

but the claimant has to issue an MCOL and win it in court, even if its done on papers and is won "by default"

so there are quite a lot of CCJ,s that are won by claimants without anyone attending court, plus without the defendant knowing anything about it , usually when old or incorrect addresses are used

I suggest you check with the court quoting the reference number and see if a CCJ has been issued against you

if it has, DCBL can try to execute the CCJ as claimed in their paperwork

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • I’ve just paid £10.00 to check if i have a CCJ against me. Turns out that I don’t! So what do I do with this threat and what’s going on with that CCJ number they’ve quoted?

    Thanks

Tell us the claim number they've quoted, missing out the middle two/three numbers to ensure we don't have the whole thing (put xxx instead) so we can check of the format looks right.

Maybe DCBL have sent the wrong letter and are chasing a (private, do not pay!) PCN number or something. I think DCBL have 'made that mistake' before...
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

OK, same answer as the other one you will have read yesterday.

No link, I never do... reading the forum regularly is key, for all newbies. And it was only yesterday.

Surely they are not allowed to lie to a victim, using the ""fact""of a CCJ to extract money. If the letter clearly states they have a ccj and they haven't then its a very serious matter.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Hi all, thankyou for you replies. Turns out the CCJ was issues August 2016. I didn!!!8217;t even know! And i received no paper work to challenge this. It!!!8217;s been on my credit file for nearly 2 years. I!!!8217;m guessing i!!!8217;ll have to pay DCBL the rediculous amount of £350

    Thank you for your support
