  • Sorry you've all been ill, that bug sounds awful .

I hope not too much damage has been done to the budget, but if you've been eating simply and not going out of the house much then hopefully the spending hasn't been too high.

  • Sadly the grocery budget has gone over and is currently at £314.56, going through the bank account and receipts there has been loads of top up shops that have quickly added up, simple things boxes of balsam tissues and cold and flu tablets have bumped it up,easy prep food and ready prepped fruit and veg which I know is so expensive but I really didn't care just wanted it to be easy because non of us had any energy to do anything, also lots of fruit juice 6 cartons of Tropicana last week costing £9:eek:, we also didn't shop at cheapest store or shop around it was simply we need x get it from wherever because none of us had the energy.

So still have 9 days until payday, lets hope we can eek everything out as much as possible.

  • Morning, think today is going to be one of those procrastinating days, lots of cleaning and washing to do but keep finding other things to keep me occupied:o.

So far this morning I've managed to put on a load of washing, wrap an ebay parcel and thrown a load of veggies and lentils into the slow cooker to make a curry to take to work next week.
I have been through finances and although tight we have money for everything and going to try to do just a small top up shop this week and eat out of stores.

Out this evening with DD have a groupon voucher for a meal for 2, so we are having a girly night, only soft drinks to buy so a cheap night out. Tomorrow i'm meeting friend for coffee and cake instead of meeting tomorrow evening for a meal out so again better in the purse strings.

Really need to go and sort the freezers out but its damp and cold and I can't be bothered, so will go and tidy a bit upstairs.
  • So glad you're all feeling better, nothing worse than one being ill and then it goes around the house!

I'm very good at finding something else to do than work when I'm at home but everything gets done eventually.

    Enjoy your evening out.

Thanks Huggle, your right it will all get done eventually!
  • So I've managed to make lunch for everyone, very boring cheese toastie, fruit and some cake.
Washed, dried and folded up a load of washing, need to go and put it away, have also stuck another load on. Dishwasher is also on and I have nipped out to the PO and sent ebay parcel.

portioned up 5 lots of curry which have gone into the freezer, had a quick look in the 2 freezers whilst out in the garage, found 3 whole chickens, joint of roasting beef, pack of mince, some fish in batter, fishfingers, chicken breasts, loaf of bread, crumpets, teacakes, prawns and all of this was without rummaging around so think we will be ok for another week and not starve, goodness only knows what else is in there.
  • Good afternoon and what a glorious one it is to, 3rd load of washing is flapping on the line and another load (socks and smalls) on the airer, windows open and back door is flung open and no TD or CH can be heard :D.

So we are limping to the February finish line, payday for me Thursday and it can't come soon enough, there is enough in bank account to cover the last DD and school lunches, I have half a tank of fuel which should be enough, DH spent my last £5 note out of my purse on yoghurts and washing powder this morning, I have a couple of pounds in change should we need milk.

DH and DS are out at a Rugby event and DD is at work, so i'm having a pottering kind of day, laid the woodburner ready to light this evening as I made that mistake yesterday of its lovely and warm and then come 5pm when the sun had dipped behind the trees the house was freezing and I put the CH on, not tonight i'm going to light it at 4pm. Spent the morning cooking have a batch of winter veg and lentil soup bubbling away in the slow cooker which smells divine and will do for work lunches, have made sausage rolls but most of these disappeared with the boys on there way out to rugger, flapjack and a Victoria sandwich is cooling and just need to make a chicken and leek pie for tea and a quiche, quiche is also for my lunches, I decided to prep a load of lunches and freeze to make life easier, I take lunch in 3 days a week and have 6 weeks until Easter hols, so the plan is one day I will have the veggie lentil curry I made the other day, 2nd day soup and 3rd day quiche with either beans or salad.
Freezers continue to surprise me everytime I take something out I find something I have forgotten about, we really need to have a good go at eating it all down, I have taken out a roasting joint of beef for tomorrows tea and a portion of damson jam, found a packet of mince, more chicken breast, bagels and sticky toffee pud so they will go on next weeks meal plan.

Redeemed a £5 mastercard from a survey site which I received instantly and stuck it on dS lunch account, few bids on ebay item so a few quid hopefully to come from there tomorrow.

    Have a great weekend xx
  • All sounding great, so nice to have the washing outside even the towels have been drying quickly. Agree though it was a bit chilly in the evening so had the CH on for a couple of hours although turned the thermostat off so it didn't come on this morning.

Meals sounds lovely, you've made loads today - apart from my volunteering and a quick shop I have done nothing, oh have just returned from town as dh needed boots, ds trainers and I needed boots. The boys pairs cost about £40 each, my boots were £10!

Good news on the mastercard, all helps towards the budget.

Enjoy the rest of your day, H x
