We’d like to remind Forumites to please avoid political debate on the Forum.
This is to keep it a safe and useful space for MoneySaving discussions. Threads that are – or become – political in nature may be removed in line with the Forum’s rules. Thank you for your understanding.
PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. Please also avoid posting personally identifiable information, including links to your own online property listing which may reveal your address. Thank you for your understanding.

I was thinking to call the council today and ask why there is pillar in my property? Haha lol
Thanks God I didn't do that and posted here first.

I, for one, await your next post (see what I did there?) with anticipation. Thanks for the best thread in ages, Amanda_Cm. :T
ETA: I think ellies deserves the credit for the clarification; I was nowhere, just talked bollards, really. It took someone fluent in more than one language to resolve things; not something the English are known for, I'm afraid. So the phrase, "to be pushed from pillar to post" (#20) makes no sense when translated, huh?0 -
GM! that is very, very NORTY. You shall have to be punished.....0

will take my well-deserved punishment in the manner it is dispensed....0

Pinklady21, I do believe the rules of forum etiquette demand that you give the OP, in this case Mistress Amanda, first crack of the whip.
G_M, that is a pole, not a pillar nor yet a post. Go and stand in the corner, now!0 -
I know! I was responding to :
G_M, that is a pole, not a pillar nor yet a post. Go and stand in the corner, now!In my native language, pilar and post are the same word, so I imagined the OP to mean some sort of "utility pole"
edit: OK! I admit it. My mind was elsewhere...........0 -
:rotfl:
Oh, I had a good laugh on myself. My partner twice as much reading your comments.
Sorry everyone. Live here from 3 years and learned English on my own. Still learning and I will probably learn all my life.
I meant what Smodlet said. Some kind of utility pole. Can't post a picture right now as we didn't move yet. I am stuck working and taking care of my baby.
I will post a picture of my "pillar" tomorrow or the day after.
Glad you can see the funny side:rotfl:0 -
Nurse, up G_M's medicine, his mind is wandering again, as are his fingers. Oh, and make sure to lock your door tonight..0
