I was thinking of it more like a monolith......you know, 2001 and all that:

    But it's 2018, so it's 17 years late.

Are the council really that far behind?

Wouldn't it be even funnier if the bollards rising up looked identical to the lollypop person in the background......
Not half as funny as they'd be if they were designed to reflect the street name. ;)

  • In my native language, pilar and post are the same word, so I imagined the OP to mean some sort of "utility pole" (which is why she says it could be electric). In any case, I'd ask the local council, right?

    Highly amusing thread otherwise

Where I used to live someone built a garage without planning permission, or permission to drop the kerb. Instead of forcing them to remove the garage (which they could have done) the council just put a bollard in the pavement so it was impossible to get a car into the garage.

I did begin by saying something had been lost in translation. I do hope Amanda_Cm does not take offence at the 4th form humour into which her thread quickly deteriorated, with no little help from me. :D

A_C, if you come on back and post a pic, we (in the royal sense of me) will try to offer sensible suggestions, in between the silliness. OK?

Oh, I had a good laugh on myself. My partner twice as much reading your comments. :D
Sorry everyone. Live here from 3 years and learned English on my own. Still learning and I will probably learn all my life.
I meant what Smodlet said. Some kind of utility pole. Can't post a picture right now as we didn't move yet. I am stuck working and taking care of my baby.
I will post a picture of my "pillar" tomorrow or the day after.
