Visiting tradesman -your responsibility?

Ignore him completely.
In the hugely unlikely event you get a sols letter, just refer them to the Arkell vs Pressdram response0 -
Do not engage at all regarding HIS issue with the tradesman.
- Don't give him insurance co numbers, its similarly nothing to do with them as the tradesman is likely a contractor not employee
- Don't get police to help settle anything
If the harrassment gets too much, contact police on that alone, but don't get into the content of his discussion. It'll only encourage him.0 -
I had an allocated parking space at my previous house which people were always parking in. One time someone had the actual cheek to park on my drive, but I still never felt the need to hit someone.
Your neighbour sounds like a very angry man and needs a good slap across the cheeks. My old materialistic lifestyle left me in debt worth £38,250.

Forget the ladder hit him further down wait until he bends over and then pop him one on the head?
I don't normally condone anything that inflames a situation, belonging to G_M's nursing home/school of "tea and cake"... but I do hope Tm investigates this route. Twice:D
No, Tygermoth, you don't owe your loopy neighbour any explanation, information or even compesayshun ...
Oddly enough, I would suspect you have more obligation to warn every visiting tradesman that you have an arrogant, bullying, passive-aggressive ignorant knobhead-neighbour, prone to outbursts of violence.
To this end, you may wish to invest in a warning sign.
Go on, you know it's absolutely definitely your legal obligation to do so...
More seriously, given slaps have been exchanged earlier, it might be worth a 101 phone call to report the current pestering, just in case he decides to get touchy with you, or your house, at a later date. After all, I guess the fuzz might be having another brief word with him anyway.0 -
I feel, to be fair to the neighbour here before he's painted as a total villain - the engineer seemed to suggest, but didn't actually admit to, throwing the first punch on his original rendition - this changed subsequently to being entirely blameless.
Apparently he was on the phone and the told the neighbour this and to hold on a second. Allegedly the neighbour reached in through his car window and took the phone out of his hand and hung the call up. Engineer leapt out of the car to get his phone back..
commence fisticuffs.
Neighbours story is the engineer on being asked to hang the call up and discuss him parking on his road to was to finish the call and get out of the car a approach him aggressively and swearing entering his personal space.
Just in the interests of being fair on the balance I tend to think the neighbour was being pugnacious and the engineer called him on it.Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0 -

Hit him with the ladder first and get a head start.0

Sorry I didn't explain myself very well.
E'neer - he reached through my window and took my phone that's why I kicked off
N'bour - He 'asked him politely to move. The E'neer refused then got out the car and tried to menace him to 'go away' as he can park on the road. then heated words were exchanged escalating to fisticuffs
Not that it changes anything or how I am looking to deal with this matter - on balance I tend to go with the neighbours rendition overall as its never changed the engineer however did change his story.
Let it not be said that I don't for a second believe the neighbour wasn't both offensive and aggressive (using utterly foul racial slurs as he did subsequently when retelling the issue tome later on) so may not be entirely blameless in this. Please note I have a cognitive disability - as such my wording can be a bit off, muddled, misspelt or in some cases i can miss out some words totally...0
