Hi everybody :hello:
I haven't heard from PenPin today but will send her a text with all your good wishes (I thought there was a ban on having your mobile on in hospitals because of interfering with equipment, but she's picking up her messages, so who knows?!)
Shez, the news yesterday was that although she hates being in hospital, she'd put on 1kg in weight :T (after having been tube-fed - which she's not any more) which is good cos the weight was falling off her and she can't afford to lose any.
I have had a crappy day at work. I wasn't feeling well this morning (much better now, thanks) but couldn't phone in sick because I had lots of work on. I thought I had one deadline today and one tomorrow, but when I opened up my calendar I realised I am out at a boring health and safety conference (on account of being senior fire warden for my office building) tomorrow, so I basically had to get it all done today - no thanks to some of my colleagues  I got deadline no.1 met by 6:45pm (I usually get off about 5  ) and arranged to delay the second until Wednesday morning. And now tomorrow I have to wear "smart business dress" which might involve a bit of improvisation based on my current wardrobe. Oh, I can do smart business dress in one size smaller than I am - but I've been avoiding buying clothes recently as I'm in the process of getting fit/losing weight.
Anyway.
Must put dinner in the oven.

Evening all! I'm back from my anniversary weekend, it was brilliant.:D
Didn't get back until late this afternoon because the hotel offered us a good deal for staying on for lunch, so we did!!
I've had a speed-read of the threads from the weekend, so hope I'm sort of up to speed with you all. Thanks for all your good wishes.:D
Now to today's thread, can somebody tell me the alternative meaning of pump? I realise I'm probably being stupid, but i only know the meaning Aussie usedAussie, are lettuces a hard to come by resource in Oz? I ask 'cos you seem to be getting some great exchanges for yours:rotfl: :rotfl:
Mrs mix, well done on your win!!!!
Stefejb well done to your sis:T :T And enjoy your trip.
PenPen, glad the birthday went well. And now off to Edinburgh, think now you're spoiling yourself;)Had to google pandora bracelet, I'd never heard of them. Wow they're lovely, but a bit pricey if you wanted too many beads etc Still I suppose the idea would be to build bit by bit, like the old-fashioned charm bracelet. Might have to show DH at some point, just out of interest you understand;)
tired mum enjoy your break away. Camber sands is lovely.
kyle, welcome home! Glad you enjoyed the holiday, despite the odd hiccup.
catowen, my you're getting ambitious now! A car or cash:D Hope you manage it, and not just a tenner:rotfl: :rotfl:
ellie, oh dear!!! :rotfl: Sorry but couldn't help but laugh. Very sensible cat waiting for them to defrost:D Bet the dog was glad to get the leftovers:rotfl:
shez you are being so good with the gym. Sounds like you not only go there but actually work hard. I go to the gym and............well I go there:o
I'm now going to have a little surf round the site.
Welcome to the new friends who've joined, and hugs to all the poorly ones.
Nearly forgot, how's the fiance Hilstep?:rotfl: :rotfl: Enjoy the fireworks:D (sorry I don't know where to search for the accent:o )

Hi All
Had a quick speed read earlier today and then again tonight. First day back at work since my incident almost two weeks ago so had to look busy. Appointment has come through today for my 24 hour heart monitor - have to go to ERI on Monday morning to get it fitted and then presumably back at same time on Tuesday for them to remove.
I see we have some more new folk - welcome. On the whole we are a friendly bunch.
BRzl - when I was in hospital (as above) was told no problem now using mobile but keep it short. I was near a main exit and not confined to bed so I did go outside to phone DH just in case I caused a problem! Hope you hear from PenPin soon. Send her love from all of us.
Ellie, well, slow cooked cat might actually be quite tasty! Feeding all the names and addresses to start with is a bit laborious but has now paid off for the last few years. Just need to make the hatches, hitches, and despatches and change of address changes regularly. I can send you the template if you want.
My mind is totally blank re Christmas pressies. Have DGS1 bought and DD feeding me ideas for DGS2 but poor DGS3 I think is going to get clothes. I am sure I will find him something special toy wise for Chrissie. We only give token pressies to most of the family now so will look for nice biscuits, wine etc. Someone said Virgin Wine was quite good for buying cases of good wine - anyone tried? DD and DS will get money but also small presents too to open on Christmas Day. The big loft clearance produced their Stockings last week. Maybe I should fill them again with some daft things like beans, soap powder, washing up liquid etc!
Anyway, hope everyone else OK. Things are quite busy this week at work so might not keep totally up to date with you all.
Love and hugs
GB xxxxxx
PS forgot to mention that when DH picked me up from work he said he had been to Lidls - still really cheap veg. he has made the most gorgeous pot of home made soup! Bought me the bits do do a rataoulle tomorrow (with loads for the freezer). All for under £5. His OS is better than mine.0 -

Rzl, I can see how perfectly toned eyes would be top of your agenda:rotfl: :rotfl: Unfortunately, there's nobody remotely like eye-candy at my gym:rolleyes:You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

Welcome back CM. Lettuces are about $4 here. for a little wilted thing. My lettuce are great big mama's, crisp, absolutuly marvellous. I'll take a picture of one and post it. You'll be green with envy.
My cabbages on the other hand, are getting eaten alive. You're suppose to grow them in winter. Oh well.
Lovely sunny day here. Hopefully my groceries should turn up this morning.
Mean Marie - Of course you should come to Qld. It's the best state by far. Did you know that I"m a born and bred Queenslander.DH's a mexican, he was born south of the border.
Better get cracking. Have a good night sleep everyone. ByeeeeeeeeDon't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
Back again...should be in bed so that I can get out of it sometime in forenoon to-morrow as I have to check in with GP re medication reduction.
Aussie...just a little afraid that the postman antics might be infectious, wouldn't want to bring them back here! Have almost worked out rough itinerary and it appears that I shall be spending the last two weeks in May 08 in Queensland.
Have been trying to get things slightly more organised here for Christmas to-day....read some post which said that poster hadn't ironed for several years...struck a chord and now most of stuff in ironing pile has been smoothed and hung in wardrobe....can now see that there is floor where the ironing basket used to stand.
Hope that everyone has a good sleep to-night
