O.S Daily thread Mon 22/10/07

Options
off to get the sticky

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Mon 22/10/07. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Good Morrning Everyone

  • Morning Mrs Mix & all who follow.
Half term here, woo hoo, so I don't start work till 9, & I have Wednesday & Thursday off too. I'm going to Lidls straight from work as there is a new one just the other side of town. Wednesday I'm meeting a friend for lunch, Thursday hubby's not working so we're going to Asda to get more £3 jeans for him to wear to work.
I have a couple of sewing jobs to do this morning so I better get on.
    Have a good day.
    Hugs Hester

    Good morning everyone,

Mrs Mix, Well done on your win! I hope your knee and ankle feel better soon.
Kyle, good to see you back.
    Tired mum, <<<hugs>>>
Hester, enjoy your few days without your lodger.
Mioliere, I'm thinking about you and your family. <<<hugs>>>
stefjb, have a great time in Blackpool.
Bargain Rzl, thanks for letting us know how Penny-Pincher is. I'm glad to hear that she's putting on some weight.
Jackie O, if you're reading, I hope things are improving for you. x

I'm up early and feeling bright and breezy for a change! :D

I had a relaxing weekend...no work and didn't do much around the house other than cook. On Saturday after a lot of struggling (and swearing) with my kitchen scissors, I invested in some pinking shears and and made gingham 'hats' for all my homemade preserves and even if I say so myself, they look lovely. I'm going to have to make a heck of a lot more preserves to justify the price of the shears though. :o

On Friday I cleaned the house from top to bottom. Needless to say after a weekend with everyone at home, it looks a shambles again, but I'm determined to keep up with it....so I'm going to set the timer for 15 minute bursts this morning to try to put it right. It does help that it's my week off. :j

I have no idea what's for tea...but I have some reduced portabello mushrooms that need to be used so I'll have to try to find a stuffing recipe for them.

Ok, off to have another coffee and get organised....

    Have a good day everyone,

    Pink

    Morning all.

Well half term is underway, still no lie-ins!! DD Still up at normal unearthly hour.
Dh just gone off to work, and i have loads to get through today.
    1-Food shopping-Oh i cant wait Mr T`s with all 4 kids !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2-Take out house insurance policy-Lady is ment to be calling regarding it at 9.30am.
3-Clean the whole house, it always looks like a bombs hit after having the kids and hubby at home all weekend!! I know it wont last long with it being half term but i can try and keep it under control.

I want to try and get time to type up all my meal plans on the pc, along with shopping lists, so that in future i just have to pick which meal plan we are having that week and print off a shopping list, I have a list of around 30 meals now that we all like, so just need to put them in order so we dont have pasta, mash, chips ect to many days in a row.
Im going to try really hard to get more organised this week, its my last chance before xmas to save some extra money and although iv cut my shopping bill by almost half since finding MSE, i think i can cut back a little further with more planning and organisation.

We had a good weekend at footy, ds1 and ds3 both won their matches, ds2 enjoyed his friends party, and i made over £30 on tuck shop for dh team. We will be able to afford to buy the team some really nice xmas presents and take them out bowling if we keep this up.

Right off to check online banking and make a start on this weeks budget.
    Have a lovely day everyone

    Morning All

In office for an hour or so getting paperwork out of the way before we head out to Adventure Island with the kids. Hopefully it will stay dry today for us, at the moment its really misty.

I too want to keep on top of the house whilst the kids are on hols. Today all I really need to do is swish the bathrooms and hoover. Reduced my ironing to a much smaller amount so hopefully will find time to do that today as well.

Not sure about dinner, we will be having lunch out - may just have something on toast when we get back.

  • Good morning everyone! Thanks to all of you for your Birthday Wishes on Saturday. We had a great weekend away in Leicester - what nice friendly people :A Went out for tapas on Friday night, then off to the Space Centre on Saturday. Really interesting day out. We then went out for an Italian on Saturday night, followed by a bottle of champagne and chocolates in the hotel room. As we walked back, there was a huge group of South African supporters spilling out of a bar. I knew what the score was doing by then  We watched the end of the rugby, but Jonny didn't spoil my day ;)

My family bought me a Pandora bracelet with a pig charm. My friends at w*** bought a tea pot ;)

Back home now - DH is off today as he's going to Sweden tomorrow. I'm taking the Small Penguins to Edinburgh, on the train, tomorrow to visit my sister and her family. We 're going to spend today in the garden, then watch a film tonight. We saw Alien last night, and even though it's billed as an 18 certificate, being nearly 30 years old means that it's a bit tame. Both the Small Penguins laughed when the alien burst out of John Hurt's chest   DH and I were both scared all over again :o

Have a great day, Penny. x

well it whiteover here at the moment... it looks soooo lovely.. everything frosty and bright... i love autumn/winter:j

Hubby is on duty today, so was at work at 6am this morning and won't be back again until about 10am tomorrow.... which means him eating food from the cook house - which now always upsets him, he has got used to my cooking, heck knows what it is about theirs that he has a problem with:confused:

Today im going to use my time to make some individual cheese potato and onion flans, and some ham, cheese and onion pasties for the freezer - but 1st i am going to do a quick check of the freezers etc as im planning on working out a months menus using up what i have..... should have plenty. I want to free up the freezer, ready for a restock ready for winter - don't want stuff lurking in there for months and months.. Im hoping to have 4 weeks without shopping -apart from a bit more milk...fingers crossed

well i hope everyone has agreat day.... hugs to all those in need

    Good morning everyone,

Been a busy little bee today. Didn't get everything done that I wanted to do. Had a phone call from GF. She practically talked her head off. :D I couldn't get a word in sideway's. The weather has been lovely today. Warm but not hot. Just the way aha aha I like it. :D

I just see DH walking towards home. I found out a bit of gossip today from the post man. He use to live with Ol Sour Puss from the shop. They were to be married and 2 weeks beforehand he pulled the plug. Nice. She must have got over it as she's married to the shop keeper now. He doesn't seem the usual cad type. He didn't say why, I suppose I'll have to pump him for that. :D Will let you know, when I find out. ;)

stef What if the train crashes. :D Have a great trip.
PPen A pig charm  now why doesn't that surprise me. :D
Pink Have a relaxing week off.

Better go and make a cuppa with DH. Hope you all have a lovely day & hugs to those feeling poorly. Byeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    morning all

Back from sunny Florida, and I can't believe how cold and dark it was this morning :o

Will have to try to catch up on everything that has gone on while I've been away.

Had a great time, apart from when I tried to kill a dolphin - my sunglasses fell into the water while I was feeding them, and a dolphin took them and was wearing them  The trainer got them back, and apologised as the dolphin had chewed them a bit - I didn't care, I was just so relieved the dolphin was OK.

Come back to a negative on Ebay, I sent something out 11 days before we went and the buyer didn't open until the day we went, there was a mix-up adn I sent the wrong item, and he left a negative because I didn't reply to his mails  Oh well, it's not the end of the world.

Back to normal today, shopping, cleaning and wishing I was back there

Have a good day everyone x
