Hi
This is my first post, but I hope it will be useful.
I had similar problems, the initial intoductory pack arrived following a purchase from Bid Up TV, I thought it looked ok, so agreed to the membership for a year. Nothing else was received from them despite the offer being up to £1000 worth of discounts and freebies. I notified them several times that no pack had arrived; but the communications through their web site "contact us" went unanswered, despite the automated response saying they would reply within 3-5 days..
Several direct emails later with nothing but an automated response again I telephoned only to get an recorded voice this time saying they were closed for training ( a whole day in the middle of the week?) and to leave a message which would be returned within 24hours. It wasn't.
I was now very dubious so I called Bid Up TV, who called Big Savings Club for me. This took another 5 days but they did what they said they would do. They seemed to pave the way as I was told to speak to customer services on 08448 80 90 80. This time I got a person, explained the situation and he sent a P92 form - this is basically a letter which you sign and return saying you have not received the goods. They say they will check whether you have signed for the recorded delivery pack as they send everything 2nd class recorded .Clearly I hadn't so it was ok.
Today I got my £94.99 back, not the full amount :apparently this was because of a compulsory admin fee.
This started in April and has only just been resolved, but it was sorted in the end.
All I would say is if you have a problem keep details of all emails, calls with dates and times and anything else relevant. Once I explained to the lady at Bid TV I could produce all of this she seemed to be able to get a result for me.
Never again................when it looks too good to be true, it probably is!!
Hope this helps. Thanks to all who post:j

Another big thank you for the info on bsc. My partner orderered headphones from bid tv on saturday. Today, when I returned home from work the trial pack had been delivered and had been signed for, but not sure who signed for it, definately not me or my partner. Looked through the trial pack and somehow had a feeling something not right. Thought I would have a look to see if any reviews, thank goodness. After reading everyone's experiences, followed their advice, and successfully cancelled the subscription (email came back in seconds saying cancelled with a canx number). Will keep you posted but somehow think it
will be ok! Thanks again0 -
Hi
I received my pack and 30 day free trial and decided to cancel my membership. It was quite easy. I logged on to my account using the number on my membership card, then went to 'My Account'. There is a button there to click and voila! it's cancelled. I printed off the page that give me a cancellation number as proof just in case they try to charge me for a year's membership.
Hope it helps :j0 -
The big savings club is such a scam I brought something off of New Image TV and I was told I couldn't purchase the item unless I paid £1.99 for a free trial with the big savings company and if I don't cancel in 30 days I'll be charged £99.99 so I said look I don’t have the time to use it free or not so I don't want it and they said it was necessary so I said I’d pay for the pack but want them to cancel it straight away. a few months later I was checking my account and saw £99.99 was taken out of my account and saw The big savings club had taken it so I emailed them explaining and was told I couldn't get a refund as it was all explained to me and I repeatedly told them I did not want it. I hadn't used the free trial at all as I thought it was cancelled!! So after months of hassle emails they gave me £50 back as "good will" giving me back some of MY money that they took out of my account without permission is a good will gesture?? The cheek  so I said I’m still asking for the rest of it and they said the case was closed...wow how rude. So I sent them an email back telling them they have 14 days to refund me fully or I will take legal action. I'm still awaiting reply but wow now I know it wasn't just a one off as you all have the same problem I am fuming I'm going to ring them first thing and throw a fit lool If anyone has anything that can help me please let me know! Many thanks!:o0

They did me last year... If you read the small print its virtually illegal, its a form of sales tactic that some may even class as illegal. Its when someone sells you something off the back of a product or service that you have purchased. It is sold to the consumer as 'free' but actually it is not, and it is an automatic fee if the customer does not react within the given 'trial period' (not free). The way they get around it, is by you authorising them to give you the free trial at the same point to which you bought the product, so you get a little confused and are at the point of which you will agree, as you do not suspect that you are giving your bank details to two companies not one. You'll give a password or a trigger word which means you autorised the sale/trial, but your sold in that the password is about the product you bought. You would not think to walk into a supermarket buy a blender and then come out with a trial subscription to anything and then to be billed £100 if you did not cancel within x amount of days.
I would say seek legal advise if they don't give you the full refund, you have nothing to lose, and considering they use the word free in the wrong context, bet they will give you your money back. Ring them again and try and be rational and explain the situation, request to speak to a supervisor and higher if needs be.
The can't be proud of making the money off the back of another companies customers and the shopping channels shouldn't be proud of it either as they are not getting happy customer feedback. But then the shopping channels will obviously get some form of commission off the back of selling you the 'free' £100 trial.
Don't accept the book when it comes in the post, you have to sign for it, thats where I made the mistake. If you sign for it, you have acknowledged it and therefore it is then yours, so if you claim you did not want, they will say that you gave your permission at point of sale and then you accepted the recorded delivery postage.
There are complaints all over the internet about them, you are not alone! But definately say no next time, and the same to any other products they try and sell to you as free, as no doubt this is one 'savings' club of many...... Good luck.
PS: I haven't got the book now, but when I did there wasn't any offers in the book I couldn't get from google, and google defiantely doesn't cost me £99!! vouchercodes and this site are great!0 -
I very recently ordered a tool from Worx from advert on TV.
Today I have received a booklet from the Big Savings Club.
I was never told about this when I ordered and paid for the tool from Worx. If I had been told I would have declined.
The Worx operator never referred to this offer, no mention was made about any third party taking £1.99 from my account.
I have spoken to Big Savings Club this morning and they just say that they got my details from Worx and that I must have agreed to it. They will not refund my £1.99.
Have yet to speak to Worx but will comment later when I have done so.
Clearly a scam going on here.0 -
Hi there
my mum is 86 years old, she rang up to order a chip pan, from bid up tv, which she paid for and received safely. Somehow along the line she ends up with an extra £99.99 being taken from her account. She is very frail and elderly but her mind is certainly ok. She remembers it being mentioned but insisted that she didn't want to join any club or have any accounts or extra credit cards, it seems that they sent it out anyway and the onus was then on her to cancel. Being the age she is she ignored it and is now very distressed to have this money taken from her account. I rang BSC yesterday and had a guy called Robert repeating over again that it wasn't company policy to refund. I told him I wasn't interested in his company policy, that they had taken advantage of an elderly lady............I was absolutely furious and i am not prepared to leave it there. When he realised I wasn't about to give in, he said a manager would phone me back within 48 hours.....but because of data protection wouldn't be able to speak to me unless my mother was there....as we live in different cities and we are bound in by snow.........thats impossible, however he said they would ring me. I can not believe that without her signing anything that these people can do this.
CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS
Elaine0 -
Thank you for your help, after a lot of perseverance I received a call back from a supervisor/manager. She said she would listen to my mother's call....as they are recorded....and get back to me.
She rang me back this morning and said that their staff had sold the offer correctly but as my mother had said her age and throughout the conversation stated that she didn't want to join anything, they had decided her money should be refunded.
So.....in fairness, they have done the decent thing, but I had to be very determined to get this result.
thanks for your help again

I have recently come out of hospital after having a heart attack, being disabled already.
I accepted the offer of looking at any potential savings that could be made through BSC and decided that due to my lack of wealth and disabilities, that it was of no use to me what so ever.
However, I had a heart attack 3 days before the end of the cancellation period, and ended up in hospital for 13 days followed by a further 2 weeks recovering under the watchful eyes of my children.
I rang them up when I returned and asked for the £99.99 back and they said I had been too late and the last call I made they told me I would not get anything back, because I did not cancel during the 30 days. I changed my card so at least they cannot do this again, AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!!0 -
