Definitely sounds like the right plan to sort those windows out Ev. Good luck with the saving - have you got a target date by which you'd like to be able to get them done?🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
Balance as at 01/09/23 = £115,000.00 Balance as at 31/12/23 = £112,000.00

No target date just as soon as we can, when I've got £500 I'll get a requote to take into account the bathroom window so hopefully won't be too much more as only small.
Definitely need the cash for the next couple of weeks as have a party to go to on Friday and my 2 brothers are coming up next weekend so out with them (although they normally buy me drinks).0 -

I agree put the money into the windows for both financial, comfort, and once all are fitted (inc new doors) security. Also think about the reduced maintenance costs. I know you can't get all the windows at one time, but do get quotes, with the recession hitting the trade you may be very surprised at the offers you may be able to get (could save several hundreds of pounds if done at one time).
If doing piecemeal then ensure you have a long established company and talk to them about the product and expectation of further business over the next (2?) years to complete the house. You don't want mis-matched windows.
If the bathroom window is above the bath then get a toughened glass one to avoid injury if someone should slip and fall against it.
Finally, if you can get the company to accept credit card payment, then do so; anything between £100 and £30,000 will then be covered unlike cheques. I'm not sure what happens if you only pay part of the cost by credit card but it may in these uncertain times be worth finding out in advance.0 -
I totally agree with what you're saying Stuart and will get quotes for the whole house, even though we'll probably get the 3 windows done initially I'll see if they can spread the quote for the whole house out in stages so just do a bit at a time. No harm in asking :-)0

have a great party and a fabulous weekend with the family...and make sure they do the buying!!:rotfl:0 -
Well the focus group didn't go ahead or probably it did but I wasn't a part of it and they didn't tell me!
Also peed off because dh has decide he doesn't want to see Feeder next week but wants to go out for a meal instead, so trying to sell tickets on ebay but I won't get the full amount I bet. I was brought up to accept gifts gratefully even if you didn't really like it, rather than to hurt then other person's feelings. Although this could backfire at times and you'll get that gross jumper again :rotfl:.
Taking dd out to an activity centre in a while as she's been stuck indoors this half-term, there's also a little area that I can take ds into whilst keeping an eye on dd. It's her birthday next week, 4 years old, where has the time gone? My niece is 14 on Sunday and that's even scarier!
Have a good day all.0 -

that is just harsh!...i would be really annoyed if they haven't had the courtesy to let you know.....mind you, my dh always says that i remind him of hannibal lecter in the silence of the lambs when it comes to a lack of courtesy..:D not sure as i would go as far as making them swallow their own tongues...but i might do!!:rotfl: (if you haven't seen the film that will make no sense to you...so sorry if that is the case!!)

i know exactly what you mean....everytime i look at my babies (now 20 & 17) i keep thinking that my lack of mathematical skills must be the only explanation!! it just doesn't seem possible that so much time has gone by without me even noticing it......must be getting old!!:rotfl:0 -
Hi everyone, not sure what's wrong with me lately but feeling a bit jaded and have no drive to do anything. Today I also have a sore throat, headache and generally feeling run down.
After some great progress with saving money for the ISA the same can't be said for the window savings and at the moment I've got £6.50 from Quidco to add to it.
Feeling sorry for myself as at home with baby, which I know I should appreciate every moment as will be back at work soon, but no-one to have a laugh with as still getting to know people up here. I hate talking to other mums sometimes as all they talk about is kids, that's great but hey there's more out there to talk about!
Sorry totally depressing post, ignore me I'll feel better soon. Ev x0 -
(((hugs))) to you evab. I hope you feel better soon.
Have you a penny jar you can count? Counting mine cheers me up - sad I know:rotfl:
