7 years to get your ducks in a row is eminently do-able - for us it was about making sure we had saved enough to cover the gap between stopping work and getting pensions in two stages - first occupational and then state ones. So far so good as long as the chancellor doesn't move the goalposts again

Thanks all - still buzzing with it all!! It’s a brilliant feeling.
Was lovely doing YNAB with room to put money towards Christmas and longer term plans.  A vehicle is being serviced though which will cost but we do have a reserve earmarked for that. I am also planning to put money this month into the S&S ISA to help increase that buffer and over the next few months we will try and put 80% of OHs wages into either the EF, the ISA, against the home maintenance loan or my pension. We, like everyone else, have a social life that’s on its a*se so got to be a slim silver lining. At least for the rest of 2021 we think we can be fairly frugal. Not sure what SSG or SA (hi SA or SSG) will be doing for holidays but think we may be binning our planned Italy trip. I can’t see us being able to easily travel through Europe as it may just be easier to stay here or so a short trip to a beach rather than a long road trip. We also have the pup now..another consideration!!

    Have a great weekend all

Thanks again for all your support, it means so much

We will be going on holiday as soon as it’s feasible. Hoping for Zante in August then Lanzarote in October but will be content with just the October one if need be or even wait until next year. Both countries are desperate to get UK travellers back and are putting everything in place to make that possible. Won’t be booking anything until there’s no quarantine this end though, don’t want to spend 14 nights in a Travelodge for the sake of a week abroad 😆

I've made a decision to stay in the UK during 2021 and hopefully next year things will be different on the travel front and we'll all becback to some normality.  I agree with SA about the Travelodge!  Restrictions permitting I'm off to stay with DD in Scotland at Whitsun which I'm looking forward to as I haven't seen her since August and my New Year's trip was cancelled.
Like you I see a few more frugal months ahead until we're all 'released!' - I'm just thankful that I've had a steady salary throughout and have been able to save.
