  • I'm trying to focus not so much on the end date but as to changing the way I live my live as a whole. I want to enjoy the little things of life, someone on here ( i think it was foxgloves) made a great point that her lasting memories are often the occasions with family that didnt even cost anything or very little. I guess its like changing your eating habits as opposed to just going on a diet.
Looking to start a DMP for over 50k of debt.
  • Totally agree PlymouthDad, we have overspent for years, mostly on our children and it time to wake up now and realise we can't afford to live like that for a while anyway. I am cutting down on so much stuff we have, I am selling lots of things to start with too. Feeling determined!!

I see your in the same place as us with credit cards, we can't get 0% card changes even though we make payments, have you any advice on this? Its so annoying as we earn good wages and make good payments off our credit (when we knuck down!), I am looking at paying a £1000 off extra to min payments this month, this is through hard work selling things etc though so we are getting there just want it faster!

I started getting turned down for new cards and rely heavily on existing cards I have kept open and new deals coming up with them. I'm sure I even got offered a 0% deal when I closed an empty card too, maybe try that?

I know Martin has a tool on here for a pre apllication check on the likelyhood of being accepted by various cards. It works by doing a 'soft' search on you so doesnt show up on credit history.

  • Hi everyone, it took me a long time before I could get 0% infact it was only feb this year so for 5 years we didn't apply for credit we just paid down and closed what we could it was horrible having to pay them interest rates but we just had to remain positive and eventually it just became the norm. We will all get there in the end :) x

I've just done a quick check up and Pay plan have been lieing to me! They obviously don't count interest and how long it took my creditors to stop charging me default payments etc so after a quick ring round myself I've worked out my current oweing status and its added about £700 on to my debt and taken me from July to October 2017 till I'm debt free - an extra 3 months!

I'm gutted to say the least
