It's been 3 years since I lasted posted on the long haul thread. What's changed since then?
I continued to stick my head in the sand about the credit card debts I owed. Well in October last year I faced up to them, paid off a large chunk from one and took it from there.
9 months later I'ved cleared and closed down 2 cards, got the remaining 2 on long term 0% deals. From a point when no-one would offer me a reduced rate from the eye watering ones I was on.
I feel so much better. I still owe over 7k on cards, down from 11k. I've sorted out an overpayment standing order for the other 2 cards and although the next 12mths will be hard work sticking to my plan I will be in a much much reduced debt place by that point.
Guess I wanted to let you know it can be done, and surprisingly quicker progress than you might think at the start.
I never forgot I was in for the long haul with the amount I owed.
Good luck everyone!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -

I'm hoping to get a large chunk if debt paid off this month, but have said this before and it hasnt happened so i'll believe it when i pay it! Im largely commission based at work and have a really good months pay coming in, which could pay off my overdraft and cc debt and next account, with some left over. Please someone come and make me pay them off on thursday, and not think how lovely the big balance is and leave it in my current account!Still here..... but working on that!0 -
