  • Antonic. well said. I joined here in 2006 and did well at first but then slid back into old ways. I started again nearly 2 years ago and still have a number of years to go but I am getting there. We just need to keep chipping away slowly and the time will come.

ISOM thanks for thinking of me. I'm struggling a wee bit just now but am managing to tick over. 7 weeks tomorrow since mum died and I am up and down like a yoyo. Things will settle again though but am very demotivated just now. Never mind. I'll get there and I have loads of support who will make sure I do. I hope you are well. How is weight loss going?

Money wise I am being a bit rubbish just now. I've not overpaid at all which is disappointing but as above I will get back on track and really need to visit the site more often as that always motivates me.

Maybe in January when I will have more money !
  • Hi number 291 reporting in for the first time. We had massive debts (146k) and I'm still embarrassed about it. Have been on a DMP for 6 years and now we are less than 12 payments away from finishing. That will be some celebration. God willing that we both keep our jobs for the next 12 months though.

To all starting the journey, it may seem never ending and overwhelming but you will get there.
Cogito ergo sum. Google it you lazy sod !!
  • Hi all, i would love to join this thread and hope to clear my debts as quickly as soon as i can. When i last calculated my DFD at the end of August it was standing as March 2016 which was 43 months away. Hoping this will start getting closer soon.....

Treat yourself in the January Sales - very MSE!

Louise - 12 months to go and you will have cleared that amount. Phenomenal - well done and I hope all goes smoothly for you over the next 12 months.

Hi Leictina and welcome! I'm sure ISOM will be along to allocate you a number soon. It can feel like a very long time to the DFD - mine is around December 2016.

However, I started a new job about 2 months ago and have been off sick for nearly 2 weeks because I have hurt my back. I'm now really worried that I am going to be jobless soon. Hate to think what that will mean for our DMP, our home life and for getting another job. Just hoping the stronger painkillers do the job (they are making me feel woozy so must be doing something)!

    Hi Everyone,

Just checking in - now on month 26 of our DMP:) We have our ups and downs but we can now see the debt mountain starting to subside a little bit. In just over 2 years we have paid off around 11k of our debt and have been able to bring our DFD closer by several years compared to what it was originally and we hope to bring it closer still by upping our payments from time to time.

For anyone just starting out on their DMP journey, keep at it, it does get better:o We now look forward to the future rather than dread what will happen in the years to come.

    Take care all

    Ellie xx

Hello everyone! I have not been here in a while but just thought I would drop in to have a wee catch up on the thread.

Well I had my LBM back in March and in the last 7 months I have managed to knock £1200 off my debt and take 9 months off my debt free date! :T

All in all on my earnings I am very pleased, and it is thanks to all the forums on here. The tips and the caring! And it is really inspiring to see people coming to the end of the journey too :)

So I am still a long hauler (37 months seems like such a long time), but slightly less then I was:j

And also I have all my money saved up for Xmas pressies so no need to use the credit cards. This is the first year ever I can say that. I am so pleased
