    Hi R ostrich

Why don't you start your own diary. It will keep you focused and you will get so much support on here. Delighted you are feeling positive. You can do it.

  • Hello fellow Long Haulers!
Long-hauler no.110, back and reporting for duty!

I humbly request, nay, beg, the resurrection of this thread!!!

Two degrees, shoe and Starbucks addictions, plus my stupid 18 month absence from this site have cost me dear. I have been back for around 4 months now, but with sporadic work coming in and debts around the 48k mark, I am barely making a dent on them. In these crappy financial times, I need morale support from other long-haulers! So, if you've ever been on here, tell me your number, and how you are doing? I know lots of people have been better than me and have cleared lots of debts, so tell me about it for inspiration :T, or commiserate with me if you have also made little progress!

I'm please to report that I'm onto my last debt to pay off, and I hope to pay it off early, so fingers crossed that around about this time next year, I should be debt free! FingersCrossed.gif

It's been a long slog - see my signature below for details - but with just 1 year or so left to go, I can finally just about see light at the end of the tunnel! :D

To those that would like some help with focusing on chipping away at those debts, I highly recommend the monthly No Spend Day (NSD) challenge thread and also the Weekly Spend Challenge (WSC) thread. They have helped me enourmously to keep on track, and you'll be more than welcome on both threads!

I hope everyone else is doing well - and I'm sending out lots of positive vibes to those that need them! sunshine-012.gif

Fantastic work :T well done you!

Welcome along Ostrich, fabulous that your head is out of the sand :D
  • Good evening all:). Just a quick word of encouragement for all those (like me) who miss take aways and pre prepared 'fancy' foods. Since starting my DMP I have been cooking good old British meals from scratch; chicken dinners, pork chops, sausage and mash, etc. My 12 year old turned to me yesterday as I slaves away peeling the potatoes, and said: "how come you are suddenly cooking real food Mum, becuse it's much nicer than the curries and stuff we used to have".

  • Have amended my signature to include all debt, including both consolidation loans. I feel sick to see it in black and white, but, funnily enough, adding them to the snowball has brought our DFD forward by about 6 months as once they finish, at the end of 2014, we'll have an additional £600+ a month towards our remaining debts. Will be here for a long time though. :(

We owe really similar amounts (I'm about 48k). I'll race you ;o)
  • Yeah a race. Now life is getting exciting. I shall be the hold the finishing line up at the end to see who gets through first! Maybe, in fact, I may have some unplanned windfall and beat you both to the line:rotfl:

Crikey, I do have a latent competitiveness that pops up at the weirdest time:money:
