Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

I am reporting in as green for last week as I had about 50p left in my purse on friday night. It was payday but I avoided the lure of the pub as I am trying to save cash for the upcoming expensive December.

I am going to pledge £20 for the week until lunchtime on Friday as I am on a half day as I have OH's Xmas party night which is quite far away. The dinner will be paid for so only need to pay for a few drinks so shouldn't be too bad.

This should be an incentive to get organised for lunch and stop buying as many extras at work like coffee.

Anyway need to stop procastinating and get to studying :o

Can I come back? Pleaseeee pleaseeeee :) I know its been a long time ever since my last post but I am back.. once again lol.

Nice to see you are still going strong Pointy :T.

I have sort of changed my budget planning, weekly food shopping - instead of monthly - and same goes for gas and electric payments. I dont want a massive bill so I am trying to pay as we go lolol.

    Sooo.. here it goes:

    - Groceries £60.00 (hoping I can manage between £40.00 and £50.00)
    - Gas - £15.00
    - Electric - £15.00
    - School Hot Meals (DS1) - £11.00 (I probably could send him with a packed lunch but I think it is important to have a nice meal, so I will stick to them - for now.. at least)
    - Pre-School Lunch Club (DS2) - £3.00 (twice a week my youngest stays all day at pre-school and they charge £1.50 for lunch)

I will also set aside £10.00 for the "odd" emergencies :rotfl:

    TOTAL: £ 114.00, fingers crossed!

It is payday Wednesday :D my favourite day of the month lol

Happy Saving Everyone ;) I am off to update my signature.

Spent a lot today - £20.02, but I have family coming over tomorrow so had to buy things for a buffet.

Also went to sale in a church hall, and spent £10 on some glasses (second hand) but nice - 4 high stemmed one, and 4 tumblers.

    Hi guys

It's payday for me on Wednesday... so just trying to work this out...!!! *thinking cap on*

    Okay, I'm pledging £80

Sun 27 Nov: Planned £6,45 cigs, £5 wine
Mon 28 Nov: Planned NSD for challenge (not true NSD as Petrol budget spend)
Tue 29 Nov: AL! Planned £14 for early showing of Breaking Dawn with mum (my turn!)
Wed 30 Nov: Payday! Planned £6.45 cigs, £8.20 drinks, also shop from Food budget and Tesco Wine order
Thu 1 Dec: Planned NSD unless 10 cigs £3.40
Fri 2 Dec: Planned £10 cigs, £3 Starbucks, £20 pub maybe?!

Don't really know what my plans are for the week, except that Tuesday I have leave - am staying home all day but me and mum are catching the 4pm showing of Breaking Dawn and it's my turn to pay, so I've kept £14 back to pay for this. Tomorrow I'm meeting the girls around noon but I'm not sure what we'll be doing, so have allowed for cigs and a glass of wine. Me and mum going out Tue is instead of girls night on Wednesday, so I have Wed, Thu and Fri free. I do imagine I'll be going to the pub on one or two nights, I'll be working late too I'd imagine. Not sure what else I can do! :(

    Have a great week all

    A very subdued LC x

Hi everyone, thanks pointy for the new thread :)

I have £6.00 in my purse but I know I will spend more than that so I plan to take £10 out of cashline and add that, so hoping for....

    £16 this week please.

I know I have things on this week but it is all budgeted for so this £16 is for all unplanned stuff :)

Hi everyone, I am back finally this week! I would like to pledge £75 for the week. The OH and myself are staying in rather posh hotel next Saturday night and even though we got an awesome deal (£145 for the night, including 2 course dinner and full english breakfast compared to the £289 they would usually charge) we'll probably be having a couple of drinks plus train fare to get there and back. So just to cover myself I thin £75 will do. Pay day is Wednesday for me too and I'm rather excited as I only have 1 present left to get! Hope you're all having a good weekend!

  • Morning Everyone,

A very windy Sunday over here, another reason to stay in my pj`s lol.

I am just about to get started on our sunday roast and I have realised we dont have any gravy so I am sending DH with £1.50:rotfl:, not a penny more, to our local shop lol.

I hope he will get it right tho! Yesterday I sent him to get me a tin of condensed milk and he came back with dried skimmed milk .

I am off to update my signature, hopefully that will be our only spending for the day.

Have a fabby Sunday everyone x

    L.
  • P.S.: Elsiepac, you will totally loveeeeeee Breaking Dawn
