Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

    Hi everyone

Here's the shiny new thread for the week starting tomorrow :money:

I'm pledging £21 this week. I usually stick to round numbers, but I have my reasons!!! So £21 it is...

Nothing really coming up to be honest, and actually I have a mini challenge for myself within this, and that's not to spend any more than £6 between tomorrow and Thursday night. We shall see... :T

Doing well on the delcarations, keep 'em coming for last week guys we've nearly got a full house! :rotfl:

Enjoy your Saturday evening... I've just been looking at how cheaply I get Martin's books on Amazon... answer: not very!!! :rotfl: That's the highlight of my evening, and I don't mind ONE LITTLE BIT :D I'm hibernating :D

LC thanks for starting the thread this week, apologies for me not keeping up at the end of the week and updating the first post for you:o

I was so red last week I may have been infra-red. I ended up going for dinner before the theatre on Wednesday but that was fine as only spend £15. I went to the cinema on Thursday night and offered to take OH for dinner before hand as he was feeling a bit low. I had a 2 for 1 main course voucher so thought it wouldn't be too bad but with wine and cofffe etc ended up at £40:eek:

It is payday on Friday at last and I am desparately trying not to sink too much further into my overdraft. Plans for the week are a drink with a friend tomorrow evening and bookgroup on Wednesday. So I am pledging £40 for the week please.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.

No worries at all pointy, I'm just loitering anyway!!! :D Sounds you've at least had a fun week even if it was a bit spendy! Mine was...

klfairy welcome - good luck with the challenge!

banwa on last week's thread you have asked whether there is an overall log being kept? The answer is no, so please don't worry about going over. It is a personal challenge, you choose your goals in relation to your circumstances! HTH :T

Thanks for the new thread elsiepac. :)

I really enjoy doing this challenge, it definitely makes me aware of how much I have in my purse and to think twice about spending it.

Okay I have £12.50 in my purse. Will that be enough???
    It'll just have to be....

£12.50 for me this week please :)

    Thank you x
