Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - overbudget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good luck everyone.

I am declaring green last week as I still had a couple of pounds left at the end of work on Friday. This weekend has been rather spendy so need to try and be good for the next 10 days until payday. I am pledging £30 this week. I have theatre tickets for Wednesday night but going to see if I can dissuade my friend for going for dinner before hand to save costs.

Thanks LC for running the thread last week:D

Maybe instead of forgoing dinner you could get an offer somewhere, or if you have Mr T vouchers you could exchange perhaps? Strada are on there at the mo and they are LOVELY! Me and my friends are having a group Christmas meal there on 10th Dec using our vouchers!!

    Good Morning.

Please can I pledge £20 again this week. I did well last week with £8.72/£20 so I'll try again this week but I'm guessing it won't be anywhere nearly as good :(

Sunday - Christmas shopping but all out of another budget so I won't be counting it in. :)

Thanks for the new thread :T

I'm not feeling happy to be in work, but on the upside I have Tue and Thur off, and also my friend is getting me info on working abroad (she works in recruitment and also has worked abroad for 18 months and also has TONS of contacts). It's something I've always wanted to do, and it's looking like now might be the right time, what with work effectively pushing me out, or at least making it known that I'm really out of favour for some reason, and I'll be debt free in December, and I have no ties to houses or anything like that, plus of course I'm single. To be honest, this is probably going to be the one time in my life I will be so "free" ... I just need to be brave and take a good opportunity if it comes my way.

    Have a good day all

Oh dear, Spends for last week was £182. Disaster.

Leaves me with spends of £43 for this week to bring me back on track. And I need to put some fuel in the car some time very soon. Am thinking my budget might be a little unrealistic. I'll try it at this level for two more weeks and then adjust if I need to.

    Mon -NSD
Tue - Food at work £1.90, diesel £20
    Wed - NSD
    Thu - window cleaner £6
    Fri - Aldi - alcohol - £6, groceries £7. Takeaway curry £23:o
    Debt £26k 18/10/14
