Hi all, I have just braved the smowball calculator and it has given me a debt free date of October 2014 .
Does this warrant me becoming a long hauler? I see other people have a longer time between their debt free date, but I don't even have a mortage my debts are all through spending beyond my means.
Hopefully I will be able to use this thread as motivation, I've been a lurker for ages so its time to face up and get posting more!!Currently takling Barclaycard - £67/£350Debt free date October 2014:jDoing it for my girlies!!:j38lbs lost in 2011SW for May 8lb/7lb0 -

There you go and welcome! There is no actual definition of long haul but I would say prob anything over a couple of years can feel a very long time!
Work situation should now be resolved wither way by mid July so I will be able to at least make plans for my future. Its going to be a tough few weeks for a number of people so prayers would be appreciated from those that say them! Money wise am now girding my loins and being a good girl..I definately am better when I have to be rather than can be IYKWIM! Off to make muffins!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Hello again, and thank you for the warm welcome, I will add my number to my signature later.
A bit about me, I have been in debt since I left school and went to Uni 11 years ago, but I really lost control when my then boyfriend was out of work for over a year, so took out loans and maxed out credit cards to pay the rent and basically live.
I like to think I'm a bit more savy with money now, I can't wait to be debt free and am determined to bring my date forward as much as I can.
I would love to take my 2 DD's to Disney Land Paris, they are 4 and 5, so at the perfect age to go. I think they'll have grown up so quickly by the time I can afford to go in 4 years time so this is a key thing for me.
I'm at work at the moment and shouldn't really be on here but I find this site so addictive and feel lost if I can't go on. I mainly lurk but thought posting on a few threads would really get me into the whole debt busting world!Currently takling Barclaycard - £67/£350Debt free date October 2014:jDoing it for my girlies!!:j38lbs lost in 2011SW for May 8lb/7lb0 -

Welcome beasygirl, I'm sure you'll be able to get your DFD down a lot quicker. Your girls will still be able to enjoy Disneyland in a couple of years time (I still love it and I'm 32 :rotfl:)"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
