A DFW Nerd is similar to a long hauler, Southern Scouser, one of the experienced hands on these here boards, and a darned cheeky one at that, started the DFW Nerds club which i believe is included in the sticky at the top of the boards.

  • well done unknownstuntman...dosh is dosh, even if its a tenner!
kika you are no 65 (see post 1!).
Dont worry hypno - you cant do it all! Pleanty of time for debtbusting! Wouldnt wat you leavig us longhaulers too early would we eh!
BAd news this end is that my wing mirror has been smashed but will go for the tape it up option (car less appealing to theft that way!!) cos it will cost 35+ to fix it ..never ind. Partly my own fault by trying to fix it with a walloping "get in there" which resulted in smashing the bit that fixes it in! Never was patient!! Ho hum!
Great to see so many long haulers and fab to know I'm not alone! As taxi rightfully says the party is gonna be amazing when we get there and we WILL get there! I find it incredible that despite the all pervasive perception that money is free, credit is good & we can just buy what we want that surrounding me on here are people who know that thats all tosh, have learned the lesson & are positively moving forward!! Long haulers rock! Hugs all and keep chipping away at it - £1 at a time!

Good news on the car Penguin and even better that a card with a horrid rate of interest can go for ever :j

Thanks everyone. Its especially great because they paid in cash so seeing it makes it more real iyswim. I'm getting impatient though because I cant bank it until Monday so can't pay off Capital One yet.

OH is keeping the £400.00 that he spent on it to fund a boat that he and a friend bought last year. It needs some work doing and then he is going to sell that too - I think he has been bitten by the bug!

I have been saving with work for Christmas this year too (first time ever) and that paid out on Tuesday. I managed to save £860.00 a lot more than I ever thought I would be able to do. Whatever I dont spend on Chrimby will be used in Jan to pay off something else (Lets face it I have plenty of choice of creditors to pay off!) It helped that the girl running it practically frogmarched me to the bank every pay day to draw money out for the savings or else I would never had done it.

Sorry for the long rambly post but on a high tonight! x x

  • Aww Penguin well done. You are doing great. I am doing really rubbish at the moment. Spending loads and I hadnt saved for Christmas. I am going to start after the New Year for next year though. Even if I can save a tenner a week then that would be fab. Going to try and budget for car insurance, service, insurance etc too. All good plans and I will be really happy if I manage to do it. x
