Hi isom...bet you have as much fun this eve as an expensive night out :T
My friend (also skint!) wants us to go for a fab evening out as we've both been a bit down recently. She thought it would cheer us up to get super dressed up and go for an expensive meal, so instead I've suggested that if she brings some wine & we both get unnecessarily dressed up then I'll cook some lovely food & naughty choccy desserts & we'll pretend we're in a restaurant :rotfl: worth a go anyway...still has to be quite fun! Wonder if all the pretending will get the washing up done........
Sorry about your rubbish day Talisker, hope it's because he's massively in debt too....aren't we all sweet on here?! :rotfl: at least you're dealing with it :T:eek:CCs[STRIKE] £46287.82[/STRIKE] £40071.74 13% DFD Feb17nowNov[STRIKE]16[/STRIKE]15ODsRBS £425, A/L £2500

Hi talisker what a k head! Don't we just love the preachers who don't have debt. At least we have learned our lesson and can pass it on to future generations. Advice is good when it actually helps but since you are doing things about it then his advice was a waste of oxygen. There was a person like that giving someone earache about there debts then next news they were getting an iva not so squeeky clean after all. Sweep it under yhe carpet talisker you have done great and we are getting there. sorry you had that talisker...some people just like to take the moral high ground but we dont know what goes on in the background!
Had a lovely eve with chips on the pier..chatted away but did get cold so came home and had a cuppa here to finish world to rights chat! church this am and then out for a pub lunch - friend is treating me cos she couldnt be bothered to cook!!
Hope you all have a good day...cheap but good!
Debts can get you down because theyre so big that it will take time but hopefully that way the lesson will be a lasting one and the money saving ways ingrained so you wont get there again! Whe I feel low about it all I try to visualise my debt free moment and that helps!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
Talisker - there's some-one like that at my work too! I think people aren't used to other people being open about their debts so it makes them feels bad. Whether or not they are in debt, I don't see many people trying hard to keep to a budget, searching for the best deals on untilities and the like; most of them spend far too much money on things they want rather than need. When you're there, being sensible and open and working hard, they feel guilty. Seems to me he went straight on the defensive and attacked in a patronising way! People don't like to be questioned on their spending habits, especially when that question is coming from them because deep down they know what you are doing is right and they should learn from your experiences.
Luckily one of my colleagues is lovely and has actually said to me that me being so open about it and discussing the best deals and how I've sorted out some stuff led her and her husband to sit down and go through their utilities and stuff and they saved themselves a good couple of hundred pounds, which meant they could go on another holiday that year. Ok, so I was jealous that they could go on holiday, but I was chuffed that all my moaning isn't falling on deaf ears all the time
.
Scooby - you could always pretend the washing up had been done for you.
ISOM - enjoy your pub lunch. My friend treated me to dinner out last night too as we had popped into a beer garden to soak up a bit of sunshine and she decided it would be nice to have food while we were there but knew that would send me into a panic so wouldn't hear of me paying. Hi All, (inparticular ISOM - please can you add me)
My snowball calculater has predicted my debt free date to be November 2015!!! (based on minimum payments) But I WILL decrease this (by making extra/over payments. My debt figure would be MUCH higher (91K) if I included our mortgage but the mortgage can wait... once I have cleared the CCs then I will aim to get mortgage free.
I have stopped spending on my credit cards - on which I have spent at least weekly, if not daily for the last umpteen years - using them almost like debit cards:eek:.
I have now not used a credit card for a month - blimey it sounds like spendaholics anonymous:rotfl:
My proper attempt at repaying these debts and making some serious extra money will start on the 12th May after an exma I have - until then I am just picking up everyone's hints and tips (anyone got a good recommendation for an online savings account into which I can sweep my change each day? A couple I've found are linked to current accounts and I don't want to change my current a/c from Santander)
Good luck everyone - keep up the good work and have a nice Sunday afternoon - back to the study books for me (after I've checked if I've made this month's payment to one of my CCs:eek:)

Hello, i just popped on as i hadn't seen this thread before.
Hello, Talisker people (at work) lecture (and look down on others) when they have something to worry about and keep quiet. Don't waste your time on them. Focus on your fantastic achievements and all of your lovely friends on this thread. You are a very honourable person and should be jolly proud of yourself.Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -
