First of all Scooby - well done for doing the snowball calculator:beer:
Secondly, whilst your estimated debt free date is 2 years longer than mine - you are clearing over 3 times as much as me - so you are doing absolutely fantastically:A and must have found monies to overpay with. well done for doing snowball scooby...I cant get the hang of it...dread to think what my dfw will be, esp if I cant work! Trying not to dwell on that and so far not looked in at the bankrupcy board....well done on nsd. Thanks to lovely friend managed that myself today despite having delicious lunch!

Well thank you mmts I did think I was doing quite well, but now I'm really confused!! Just did a budget-all back to front I know
and I seem to have a monthly shortfall without even adding in any unnecessary spending. I haven't used my credit cards for at least 18 months so how on earth is that possible?! It's by a few hundred too Hmm

Moremoneythansense - I have an A&L account with an attached savings account, which is now Santander. Perhaps you'll be able to get an attached savings account if you ask? But you can have one wherever you like. Is it a savings account you want to be able to access when needed? 'Cos if not, you'll gain most from an ISA. (Can you tell I'm reading the money dest again!!!)
And I'm still learning to budget... actually, it's not the budgeting itself I have a problem with; it's the keeping to it!I have decided to try and do a weekly budget to see if that helps, but it's not Sunday night and I am avoiding a weekly budget! (Probably best in a 5 week month
)
The snowball calculator is ok once you get used to it (and don't have it on the wrong setting as I did!) The good thing is you can save it and add in any payments you make to see the difference it makes to your DFD. Not always a lot, but still good for motivation. I use it on 2 ocassions - when I need a kick up the *ss, to terrify myself and when I'm having a good, positive day to keep me motivated - that's all ground covered then!Jan10: 28,315.81 Jan11: 18,015.32 Jan12: 7,682.58 Jan13: 2,987.73 Current debt: 1,225.55

Hi Talisker
You often get people like this. No doubt you are a very generous person. The 'I'm alright Jack' person will probably let you get a round in and then leave before its their turn. I've done that so many times and paid for taxi home as I'm the last out!
Circumstances have a part to play in our finance situations. If nothing has ever gone pear shaped in your life then no doubt you can stay debt free. But look at you doing something about it,chiping away and despite having an off day, dealing with it. So well done and keep going. I'm new but am inspired by people like you. Hope my wadge of owement will start moving in right direction slowly but surely.0 -
