I think we all need to build up to the snowball calculator! It's hard enough sitting down and sorting out all the paperwork in the first place, then posting and, if your brave, your SOA... is it any wonder we hold off on the snowball calculator!

I fantasize with it too... if I just get a surprise lump sum of x, when will I be debt free, if I can just pay an extra 200-300 a month, when will I be debt free... anything to pretend it's closer than it is and that life doesn't get in the way :D

It's either that or I'm just a sad, obsessed person that likes to play with numbers now I've learned to count the pennies :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • Oh nic that's so funny as that's exactly what I was doing earlier :rotfl: I tried different versions with different interest rates & minimum payments as if that somehow might make a difference lol! It did too but sadly only in the fantasy snowball :D

Well I did the worst case scenario on the cccs debt remedy...now THAT was scary...knew it would be but seeing it in black and white odd! Well done for doing the snowball scooby - probably the interest that made it go awry as its adds monthly - ie month 1 you have ammt + interest; 2 you have that plus new interst to old and it calculates it so effectively you are paying interest on the interest and so it goes...depressing but hopefully will help us maintain focus!

  • Nothing like a sour lemon snowball to bring you back to reality. Think I found oh a car within price range 1k but that could clear us a credit card 500 is from his nan to help and his dad said he would give some too but I can't help fantasising about clearing a k it would have us well into the 59 k numbers and then less after everything else had gone out... Ahhh why does life get in the way. Pps I need a motivational kick to do the work i need to do ! X

Thank you everyone for your support. Feel much better now - I don't often get off days, so when i do I REALLY crash! Thank you especially to 'wood4trees' - very kind words and support.

On the Debt-free day front, I haven't ever formally worked mine out - just too scary at the moment. Won't be any less that 2015, which I can only rationalise by thinking, its the Olympics plus three years. Although my daughter will be seven and at school by that point - very scary!

Its that bloody loan I took out with Tesco - In took at 25K loan in 2006 with Tesco. It was at a good rate - 5.9% - but I took it over 10 years. So wish I hadn't now, it was a consolodation loan as well - yeah, that worked! - and despite the low rate the payments are nearly 300 a month, which is crippling sometimes. I was so close to asking them to reduce the payments last year, but I backed off at the last moment when I realised that even if they agreed and they reduced to 200 a month, it would increase the term to 14 years. Sod that!

A new car HPGDF?? Lovely - although its so hard finding cars on a budget isn't it?! I managed to squeeze to 2k to get a car recently, so hard though. What work are you needing a kick to do?

talisker - I know the feeling, it's the RBS laon for me! What a pain! And why did I fall for the consolidation line?!

Happy - do you have course work to do? Try doing half hour bursts with 10 minutes MSE time. If it's just houseworky stuff, just sweep the room with a glance. The rest can wait ;).

Yeah, Tesco, grrrr. It always annoys me when i hear them on the news - 'Tesco publishes profits of 2 billion etc. etc.' - its like, wait a minute, most of that came from me!

Housework HTGDF - is Columbo not on? Or Diagnosis Murder? Sorry, shouldn't be dis-encouraging you!
