scoobylicious - you have done the hardest part - well done! It is horrible writing them all down - I just don't do it anymore, I hate it. Just like to see one big total which I can gradually chip away at.

Have you plan for how you will tackle it? I frequently have plans - I sit up and worry about it all night, then I formulate this great plan, then two days later I completely change my mind and decide on something different. Ove the years my plans have got more and more bizarre! My current plan involved 'rewarding' the credit cards which are 'nice' to me. I am paying off my Bank of Scotland card the most just now as they have kindly agreed to reduce my normal APR to 9.9% and always give me great balance transfer rates (4.9%). Sainsburys on the other hand keep reducing my credit limit whenever I pay off more, so I 'punish' them by paying off the least amount every month.

I know, this is a very stupid and very wierd way to pay off my cards, but its gives me some small pleasure in my epic fight to reduce debt. We have to get out thrills somewhere I suppose. Maybe I need to have more sex or just get out more...until then, I enjoy playing my own 'games' with the credit card companies. Keeps me amused. I'm sure my plan will have changed by next month anyway!

By the way - I recommend finding a more sensible plan of paying off you debts - it has worked for me, but it perhaps isn't the most sensible way!
thanks for advice! Don't have a plan yet-think am still just horrified by how much I owe :o I know what mean about cards though, you spend so long hating them that they all seem to take on horrible personalities of their own-think that might sound a bit mad to most people though!!
I'm wondering if I should pick the smallest card & try to pay that off asap? Am not good with long term goals so a bit worried that if I try to go for working at big total I might lose heart totally!
    Any ideas gratefully received!!

  • yes i have used that approach pay the smallest off just to get some momentum behind me and see that i have reduced out payments, that might be ok for awhile and then maybne you could takle the hight amounts or foucs on the high aprs, it is hard work but coming on here keeps you going :D x

Hi Scooby, I'm doing that too. My Virgin card is still 0% (this month anyway!) and I want another creditor off my list just to give me a psychological boost though I should probably be pouring it into my RBS loan as it's the highest interst rate.

I am wondering if I'd be able to get a life of balance on my Virgin card and transfer money into my bank account to pay off more of the loan, but not sure I's be allowed to do that.

And why is it always 3am when I start thinking about these things so I then can't sleep!
