I agree that some of the diaries on here are inspirational. I can't believe how much debt some people have managed to clear. I've been a lurker for a couple of years (occasionally posting) and have picked up so many useful tips especially on the ebaying threads. I got serious about debtbusting in December when I couldn't hide things from DH any more. The diary helps when you see things in black and white, but I do tend to ramble on a [STRIKE]bit[/STRIKE] lot sometimes.

I could also do with getting back on the diet wagon, I started really well but seem to have run out of steam!

  • All your stories are so inspirational. I'm just in the process of trying to admit to myself what a ridiculous financial state I've got myself into :(
I'm certainly in the long haul category...think about 33k owed but only now going through the gruesome task of adding up all the balances.
It really doesn't seem like it but from those further along the path, is this really the tiniest start to better times?!
Please can I join this thread?

    Hello,

Sorry I haven't posted again in a while - just can't find the time sometimes! Had a mega busy month - through some fervent ebaying I managed to raise an extra £281, which has all be ploughed into my cards. It still amazes me what people will buy.

HTGDF - can't believe someone blasted you for trying to give advice. You would have thought they would want to try and avoid getting into such high APR debt. I have found that people can be very judgemental in the credit card and loan forums - i just tell myself that they probably just have the same amount of debt as we do but are just in denial about it. I prefer the debt-free forums and everyone has always been very nice.

Scooby - well done for joining the long haulers and for confronting your debts. Not fun, but my experience of this forum is that everyone is very supportive and non-judgemental. We have all been there and, unortunately, still have a long way to go! Best of luck to you!
    Debt Sept 2007 (1st LBM) - £63,000 :embarasse
    Started DMP July 2012 (2nd LBM) - £34,000
    DFD (currently) - 12 years! :o

Feel free to have a nose at mine. Mostly it's me veering of on mad tangents and forgetting to do some debt-busting along the way...

But I probably was nearer 40k a few years ago when I had a flickering moment of clarity, then fell off the wagon. Which is why I started up my own diary this time. It helps having some-where to rant and get it all down when you are single and can't offload onto an OH (though, from most of the diaries I've read, it's generally an OH being on a different wave-length when it comes to debt-busting that's a problem.)

And it's also good to have some-where to admit you've been paying no attention and actually you need to clamber back up on the wagon and start fighting again :o. Helps keep you on the straight and narrow!

Lula Hula's diary good too. Failing that, start up your own and let us know :).

Thanks Nicc. I'll subscribe to those. I've started a diary, but haven't been updating regularly (think it's on page 3 or 4 of the diaries section at the moment), so was looking at other diaries for inspiration.

Lots of mins still here as work still uncertain, as it has been for 7 months now...getting me down but not much I can do.
Keep plugging at it and we'll get there in the end! Lots of falling off wagon and coming back - a phase I think having been here a while! Over the the falling off's become less...:)
