Thanks Ramblingtree!
I will behave myself; as you've said, I'm trying my hardest to overpay Virgin by £500 a month (though this might drop a bit this month, thanks to Christmas presents), but I'm still paying about £850 on normal debt repayments. It will add up, but it feels like such a big amount at times. I'm also beginning my temporary second job tomorrow; goodbye nights and weekends for a month, but hopefully will pay off another chunk. My problem is when I've overstretched with work I resort to making myself feel better with takeaways. It will be tough to get through the next few weeks, but I am determined :A.
I will have to think about a free treat. But I'm not sure about the back rub, OH might get ideas...0 -
Thanks Happy!0

haha, well the 'ideas' he might get are free too!!!
It is hard, especially with a second job. I am very grumpy about mine this week, I've worked 3 evenings in a row as well as the day job, and my OH is away for work next week, so it'll have been almost two weeks with barely seeing each other and I get grumpy. But, at the end of each shift, I calculate how much my CC will go down by because of it. And thats a good thing, and this fight is just temporary before we can stick two fingers up at the creditors and skip off into the sunset, debt free and happy!0 -
I can't wait - it's the thought of all of that extra money that keeps me going. I think it will take about 4 years if the loans can be settled early; that sounds like lots of time, but I think back to 4 years ago and it's passed so quickly.
One step at a time.
Thanks again both of you0 -
You are most welcome! I was saying to Happy earlier, I am so up and down all the time with the debt. It really does mess with your sanity.
4 years isn't long, and life isn't on hold during that time, there's plenty of free fun to be had, and you'll be teaching your kids how live a happy, fulfilled debt free existance!
Have a great evening

ramblingtree - I might have to join you in getting a classic car ... after the motorcycle ... and after the debts have been paid - I've always had an eye for the VW Karmann Ghia, a beautifully styled car, practical, but not too much speed to keep me out of trouble!
It's comforting to see that I wasn't the only one with well over £50,000 worth of debts at the LBM! And I thought I was doing well paying off £960 of debt a month - I'm mightily impressed with you paying off £1600 per month! Wow! That's an inspiring target for us all to aim for! Well done with working the extra shifts at you're second job. I've got some studying to do, but I will be joining you soon and will be signing up for some overtime/extra shifts from next month too.
Happytogetdebtfree - I love the extra unsocial pay for working nights too ... just a shame my OH isn't so keen!
mumto2monkeys - paying off £850 of your debts per month is fantastic! Then paying off an extra £500 of your Virgin card is amazing - in the big scheme of things, with the unforeseen 3K added to your 45K, you should still have it all paid off in 4 years - as you say it will go quickly. I find that when I'm feeling in need of a lift, this forum is great - it's really inspiring me! Thank you to everyone on the forum, who are all inspiring!:money: Proud to [STRIKE]be dealing with[/STRIKE] have dealt with my debts! :money:

Once I get debt free I might go for an MGB convertible, before the plastic bumpers.. I will save up and buy one cash!
Thanks for this thread, really got me thinking! TA!:beer:0 -
hehe, I'd go for a mustang I think... Or I really love those massive old style station wagons, loads of room for dogs in the boot!!
Well, we pay £1600 a month, of which £1100 is paid off, and £500 is interest. Some of our CCs are high interest at the moment, and will stay that way until we're in a slightly better position and can balance transfer some.
Working second job this afternoon, then a whole evening off! Ahhh, the luxury...
Hope everyone is enjoying the calm after the storms!
