  • Well first thoughts whe ever I hear THAT word are

I have £20 in argos vouchers with another £10 on its way but other than that a bit slow going on the extra money making front.

Plan to be careful this year but havent really started anything I fill up with dread at the thought of making a list right now. The kids know we are broke so hopefully wont expect much. I will be ok just want to take it easy. I have a week off in Nov to get most of it out the way. If Im careful I have £250 a month for birthdays/xmas (after that most of it it goes to car costs etc)

Right now I have been just concentrating of keeping in budget for once and Im glad to say

:j: I did it :j: I have £2 left over for the month with another £35 on top from a friends loan repayment which should go to the MBNA card. Waiting till Im back in the black for that as expences delayed . Payday tomorrow so can do it then.

Hi hi tek, chin up re the strike and debt. I've been out of touch we had a sudden unexpected sad circumstance that meant all ha to be dropped and we had to go to Spain for a shirt while. But it's made me realise life is too short and we shouldn't beat ourselves up we just have to accept things take time so I'm dealing with the debt at a pace I can cope with and I'm not getting down about it x
Hey thanks HTBDF, sorry about sad circumstance, I know what you mean about life being too short. We can hopefully start to chip away at debts now a bit faster, as we have both cut down on alcohol & OH still not smoking. OH was always the one to fritter away cash easily, whilst I was the one with the expensive tastes in clothes etc. We haven't done too bad the last year or so to be fair, considering we paid out for wedding, honeymoon & presents, but by both cutting down on alcohol & OH not smoking, it should ease the burden a little IYKWIM. We find this time of year to be a little easier to save, as we would rather stay in most Saturday nights whereas in summer we tend to go out alot more. Good luck to yourself & to all others, back soon!!
DEBT AT LBM(1/7/07)-£35,052.19 DEBT (31/08/10) Average amount paid off P.M. £67.96 Paid off so far £2582.68(7.3%) Target to pay off in 2010 £2,340.14/£3,600 LH Supporter(165) DFD September 2110:eek:

re xmas - my family do a secret santa thing - pull a name out of a hat (everyone had to write a list of about 4-6 things that they may like for xmas) with a budget of £20 - maybe a bit more than usual, but you are only buying for one person. We did it last year and it went down a treat, takes the pressure of everyone having to buy everyone else something. I run out of ideas of what to get some people.
TEK - I think you are right about the change in weather/season will make you want to stay in all snuggled and cosy hopefully on a Saturday - good way to save more money. With the clocks going back on Saturday, this should make us feel like staying in even more! Bring on the blankets and hot chocolate x

  • Thanks htgdf, glad to be on board, not quite sure how I racked up my debts (perhaps if i did i might have been a bit more carefull!) but i know that an expensive split up caused a lot of it..... oh well you live and learn!

Im lucky enough to have job security and brill BF that treats me to the stuff I might otherwise not have, but for some unknown reason I had another slip after getting control, so I really need to keep my eye on the ball (or balance!) for the next few years!

Well, I'm married, have no kids but DH has 3. We have a dog and 3 cats. We have been together 10 years and have spent the last 10 years enjoying life to the max. Holiday abroad every year, sometimes even twice a year, holidays in the UK, concerts, days out, weekends away, new car etc etc.... even though we couldnt afford it we just did it. We got married abroad 2 years ago and I think that was what finally maxed us and our credit cards out. We are now facing up to our debts, around 39,000 unsecured and are trying to get used to the idea that the next 10 years of our lives are going to be the opposite of the past 10. I have told DH that as a treat in 10 years time we can book a caravan holiday to Mablethorpe. It will give us something to look forward to

I found this site about a month ago and now we have a plan I wanted to come on here, introduce myself and get to know you all
