Hello In Search Of Me, I dont think I have seen that thread but I will go and try and find it now as I'm guessing that will answer a lot of questions about my impending DMP. I normally shop at Morrisons, is Lidl a lot cheaper? Can you buy everything from there like bread, milk, veg, meat etc. I really really need to reduce my shopping bill only because then I can afford wine at the weekends. I still cant bear to give that up just yet. After dealing with banks, dd's, creditors, letters etc I need wine on a Friday night lol! Bacon sarnies on the beach sound great, its just a shame that it would cost us about £80 in petrol to get there. My mum and dad now know about my debts, my dad didnt say anything he's more of a thinker than a talker, my mum very kindly offered us the chance to go and live with her. I dont want to lose my house though. Besides me, my DH, my dog and 3 cats would have to squash into her house. Its not an option even worth thinking about... yet! We have yet to tell my mother and father-in-law. I think they will want to help us and we dont want them to (well we do really but they are pensioners and its not fair on them) and they will just end up worrying about us. Its a relief telling people, when I told my sister I couldnt believe it when she told me she is exactly the same and is really up to her neck in debt herself, she is now thinking about contacting CCCS like me. Its nice to be able to talk about it. It's a very lonely place when you are in debt and you keep it to yourself.

I totally agree bailey59, I felt so alone this year, what with the arguing with my other half, keeping it all from my parents and brothers, some friends knew but I dont think they really understood what it all meant.
My family though have been a big help now they know, buying shoes/uniforms for the girls, paying for food shopping now and then, it all really helps.
Good to see you on the other thread too, these 2 will be a godsend for us in the coming weeks and months.

  • Hi all, I am new to this thread (awaiting number from ISOM). Was spending like mad until about 2 months ago when I decided to come clean with OH and decided to tackle it all head on. Felt so stupid for racking up debt and then taking out more debt to pay the 'old' debt off.
So far have scratched 2/5 short-term debts (CC and overdrafts), closed dormant bank accounts and arranged for all income to go into one account where I immediatly make all budgeted payments according to my budget. Still have a long way to go (budget shows that I/we will be DF by May 2013) but at least the baby steps have been made!! ;)
  • Hi ya Kazzabell29

Warm welcome to you, you aren't alone. Well done for taking those baby steps, that is all you need to get started. There are a few of us newbies here in the same boat, looking forward to giving each other moral support.

I have just cancelled the last direct debit for a loan, the payment was coming out in 2 days, now I need to go for a walk with my girls to the cash machine to take out that money before the bank take it.
Bit nervous about it because this signals the end of my 22 year relationship with my bank. Why am I bothered? God knows, I'm so silly to think there is such a thing as customer loyalty. Not any more!
I need to snap out of it quickly, my god this is a rollercoaster ride of emotions isnt it!!

  • Hello to all the new people,
I am pretty new myself (although long time lurker!). Had a mini crisis today, with payment crossovers and account juggling to avoid charges. Think we just about saved it. Been a nightmare month one way or the other. Fingers crossed November will be a more 'normal' month.
Feeling the slog lately. Pretty run down with everything. Some weeks are like that though I guess.
PMA to all - I don't have any myself today but hope you all have some!!
    xx

Hi Ramblingtree, dealing with the banks is turning into a nightmare so I know where you are coming from, cancelling dd's opening and closing new accounts, phoning companies to change dd details, trying to avoid charges. My head feels like its gonna burst.

PMA!! I wish! feels more like PMT everyday

  • haha, yeah, know what you mean. Juggling and keeping track of everything is a full time occupation in itself. There aren't enough hours in the day most of the time (says me sitting on forums when I'm supposed to be working!)
We're lucky, don't have too many problems with the banks, mostly keep on top of things, just occasionally things get a bit miscalculated, todays incident was a cheque we didn't think would clear until after payday, ooops...
  • Hi ramblingtree :hello:

    ditto from me too Lol
I have a big headache today with all the calls and letters, almost there though...just takes time to get sorted.
I'm trying to learn all the abbreviations....sorry but can you tell me what PMA stands for pls?
    ta

as for PMT Bailey59, that made me laugh, with you there! LOL:rotfl:
