Good to see that youve found the DMP support thread pepys...if anyone wants a linky let me know! Being in debt is up and down - sometimes feels ok - at other times awful but whats important is that we support each other in the ups and down.
hugs those that feel cack...this time of year is hard as you feel it whe people going on about Christmas presents, meals, clothes etc and you have to be innovative and make do. having said that alot of thought goes into mine now instead of rushing round but means I have to be more organised!
Weezl74's 50p thread has lots of ideas on saving money on food and the grocery challenge is also a good thing. I now make my own wine as well as buying some but better to cut down...do think there is a direct correlation between debt/alcohol and depression myself...theres a giving up/cutting down on alcohol thread if people want a ink there. Its really hard in the early days as so much info plus trying to get to grips...can understand re bank...I have an account that feels like family but have no doubt they will divorce me if I dont pay lol!!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! ta ramblingtree.......I'm trying the positive thinking....fail miserably some days mind you....
Where there is determination, the way can be found........Total Debt : £61,302.84 :eek:DMP with CCCS started 1.01.2010Debt Free in 13 Years 1 month, hopefully sooner as things improve and they stop interest/charges!!Long Hauler #188 DMP Member 353Thank you so much to all posters :beer:0 -
I find most days I'm not really positive about it all, but on those days I just grit my teeth and push through and use the few positive days to reassess and make the changes needed!
Although, having said that, even if my debt reduces by 1p a month, its at least going in the right direction! Of course, it needs to be quicker than that, but every downward move is a good one.0 -
Well the long haul has officially started for me and DH! Finally we can plan ahead rather than the worry I've had each month for far too long as to where money is coming from.
I've arranged a managed loan with HSBC - over the next 139 months (role on June 2021!!) and I'm writing to the credit cards asking them to accept reduced payments.
DH is looking for work and is applying for most things, including Father Christmas! We are planning ahead for Christmas with making homemade/very cheap/recycled gifts and friends have been very understanding, so that helps too.
It's brilliant to not be stuck in limbo anymore and we know we'll be poor for a while, but with hard work we'll be able to sort it out and be debt free hopefully sooner than June 2021!!

Welcome aboard everyone who has joined the thread.
I'm feeling a bit more positive this week and have taken to checking my a/c daily online for the first time ever!
Even though it reminds me of how little is in there it is a reminder after all and a reminder of how many loan payments I have left.
Instead of this getting me down I have decided to embrace the number of payments left which is 45 currently. The 45mth countdown begins to never ever be repeated in this way again! No more consolidation loans in future no matter how tempted I am and during these 45mths I will clear the bloomin CCs at least.
PMA my friends indeed!
ETA: I have paid off my black horse loan next month and I have lost count of how many letters they send telling me for the same amount per month I can have X amount and pay it off over the next 5yrs! Don't think so somehow! No not now, sometimes feel a bit tempted to take them up so straight in the shredder the letters go to be quickly forgotten aboutfinal unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550 -
Evening all, its great to see all the PMA!... and lol to the PMT! I think it may be something to do with the time of year but nothing seems to be going in the right direction and it soooooo long to payday (another 2 whole days and counting!) I love the feeling of paying off debts and would do it everyday if I could, I have even borrowed a idea from the MFW board and drawn a squared picture, each sq represents £100 of debt and I can colour it in each time I pay that amount. I also have a DFD countdown calendar, but Im itching to cross months off! Oh well ASDA do cheap St Johns Wort which should boost the PMA (and possibly sort the PMT ..... lol) xxxxxOfficial DFW Nerd Club No. 1150 - Long Haul Supporters Club No 186 - Debt free 26.5.17

It's nice to see others are in the same situation and still managing to stay positive. It really helps! DH & I just keep reminding ourselves that doing the DMP will allow us to continue life somewhat normally for our little ones (albeit in a less spendy manner!) without the constant worries over whether or not we will have money for rent or groceries or nappies. As we're just starting out on this, I am anticipating some more "down" days as the demand letters start coming in after the token payments are received. But we're determined not to let this get the better of us, even though it's going to take years to pay it all off.MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)DFW Long haul supporters No 210:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:0

Please can I join too? I would love a number for my signature.

LBM was late August. I'm 2 months in to what will be a very long haul! Husband and I owe about 45k. So far, so good on a very tight new budget. I do feel like we're making progress. It is hard, but I'm strangely proud that I've not used a credit card for what must be the longest time EVER for me (about 8 weeks). :rotfl:
