assumed you wanted to join us!! Welcome! Think long and hard about he job ltm...if yours is a contract and secure you would possibly be best where you are. Agency are always the first to go because they can because youre not contracted and with the current climate a secure job is worth its weight in gold - esp as people cant manage to maintain agency fees over time...fine if you dont rely on regular income but not if, like most of us, you do!
Nice to see you jonny bot. Like you havent paid the 8000 but still better than now isnt it and bearing in mind how much extra we are all paying out not bad anyway!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -

Hi everyone, reporting for duty! Haven't joined in since I joined this thread as I haven't been very well, but feel better today and I'm really appreciating being able to breathe again!
The company I work for is laying lots of people off too, it's very depressing. I think the area I work in is under threat, but I'm sticking it out for each month's pay is another small chunk off the debts. I've been there a while so would get redundancy, but there are not a lot of jobs in my field out there at the moment.
Darn, I meant my first post to be cheerful - oops....

Gosh Piquant, it does make me realise how lucky I am. My post did probably come across as wanting to move to another job for more money, that was one factor I guess, but one of the the other factors was a new challenge. They will be making redundancies at our company too, throughout the country & I shouldn't come across as saying that my job is definately safe. However if I ever was to be laid off, like yourself, I would get redundancy pay. It is very depressing hearing about so many people being laid off, it does make me realise alot of people ae much worse off than ourselves.Debt at LBM(July 1st 07)-£35,053.92 Debt on 1st Anniversary of LBM(July 1st 08)-£33,170.11 (31st January 09)-£32,318.73Paid off so far £2,735.19(7.8%) Average paid off p.m. £143.95 L/H supporter 115 DFD target February 2018 DFD March 2028. Room for 1 more?
Im well into my longhaul now (over 50%!!) but its getting to me a bit. Another skinty christmas with 12 of my families spoilt little darlings to find cheap gifts for.
Number 1 concern is my cahoot loan as it is on a flexible rate that keeps going up and due to my poor credit rating, I cant move to a fixed rate.
I do have reasons to be cheerful though and I WILL hang in there! 2009 is a new job year, if it kills me!0 -
always room for more clarab!! 151 for you! Youre doing really well but can understand it getting you down - its hard when youve got loads to pay off which is why I started the thread! There is no quick fix alas and us longhaulers do have a tendency to slippage me thinks as its hard to get the balance when theres so long to go!
Hello piquant...hard when jobs are uncertain and I am in the fortunate position of being in a job/line of work that ever has redendencies and always understaffed so always a job...
Good that youve made a decision ltm...sometimes just thinking these things through is exhausting isnt it!Nerd no 109 Long haulers supporters DFW #1! Even in the darkest moments, love and hope are always possible.0 -
OMG, yes that's right, 8 weeks today and all the fuss and bother will be over. Hello everyone, especially to the new faces. I for one are doing my best not to worry about xmas and if I dont have enough money for it well then tough. thankfully we dont have to buy so many pressies this year and not visiting family until the new year, so that has saved some costs. I think what is important is that you are with family and friends, warm and cosy with some nice food, enjoying everyone's company and relaxing. I think the presents are secondary, although they have become the most important to many people.
Generally things are fairly quiet in the dub household, being skint is a permanent state in this family, but at least we have each other, aahhh! I am metaphorically rolling up my sleeves this weekend to try to find constructive ways to increase our income. remember stay safe and PMA at all times, the bar stewards will not get us down x Pip Pip Cheerio0
