re Xmas presents, we are only buying for the kids in the family this year - nieces and nephews - 7 in total and only will be spending a tenner each. Then there is only DS and each other, but might suggest to OH not to buy anything for each other - we tend to make more of birthdays. My parents, aunt and sister are doing a secret santa between them as they are want to spend less this year, particularly my parents, my mum suggested this to everyone. I will be speaking to her again tomorrow and am going to try to talk to her about their situation, I have a feeling that it is worst then she is telling me. I guess she doesnt want to worry me.

In terms of paying off the cc, I will have to try to do some sessional reports, but OH said not as already got a stressful job, gonna think about things we can sell, car boot, ebay etc x

Welcome tmd! Have you contacted any of the free debt agencies for advice? With limited income I wonder whether it would be worth considering a dmp? Just a thought. Mind you when I started the journey I was told that I should so one and that scared me into action lol!!!

Thanks ISOM, am happy to be allocated a number.

How do these debt agencies work if you have a partner? Our house is in joint names, he pays all the bills and mortgage.

  • tmb I'm not sure but would ring for some advice and see what they say - nothing lost after all...guess ot depends on whether you have a mortgage and are financially linked. May be worth asking on the dmp board?
