Hi everyone, CC they were wise words indeed, I like the idea of saving the difference, I think I will try that and initially it can be an emergency fund, we dont have one at the mo and there always seems to be something to pay for on the blasted car.
Welcome to the other newbies and ISOM well done on £10,000. Onwards and upwards that is the only way. PMA everyone! (I'm trying to at least sound positive, inside I'm screaming!)
  • Hello

Well another payday so loan now £16.5k. Have brought an old run around for OH and will be selling our car to hopefully make about £1.5k profit to chuck at the loan.

Amazon sales have slowed and no luck with ebay. Planning a car boot this weekend to raise a few more pennies. OH going across the channel on Sat so that will deplete the funds a bit.

Dubgirl - you are right PMA at all times! Good luck with saving the difference.

:hello: all! Hope everyone is ok. Starting to feel we are getting somewhere at last. Paid for holiday so just have to save spending money now. Paid £16 for OH,our Niece & myself to go & watch DD's dancing show tomorrow & all in all we are managing to stay within budget. According to www.whatsthecost.com our DFD is now October 2011:eek: so we have knocked around a year off our original DFD:j ! That said things are bound to crop up between now & then so it will probably be further away than that. Our mortgage has gone down by £12 due to the interest rate cut & received £400 pre tax bonus today, although this went towards holiday:naughty::p ! OH also came out with an extra £150 through doing an extra shift & working the Easter bank holidays, which has helped us out no end. She has also had some good news as she is changing her hours from part time to full time so this will be an extra couple of hundred quid a month, which takes the pressure off no end:j ! Won't be around much this weekend but will try to get on here when I get chance & catch up with your posts. Good luck with the car sale Wendy. ll the best to dubgirl & the rest of you. I'm having my 2nd & final tinnie:beer: of the night & settling down to watch Benidorm(funniest programme on t.v. at the moment in my opinion:D ) as I'm up for work at 3am! All the best!!

Goodness me how do you cope with being up at 3am for work LTM!! Yuck! Great that the OH will be bringing extra dosh in...every penny does really help!! On a bit of a go slow here debt wise...always abit of a come down after payday and managed (again!) to pay too much off so left me somewhat short!! Its gonna be a tough month lol!! Trying to be innovative with my grocery budget as that always seems my biggest expense!!

Hi ISOM,yes I'm a postman & whilst Royal Mail are trying to cut down the overtime, they more or less always want people to come in early & do a bit of sorting on a Saturday. I don't mind doing it as I finish my round by 10am on a Saturday so can catch up on my sleep when I get in! OH bringing the extra dosh in really is a Godsend, although we know not to get too complacent. Good luck next month,we always find the first couple of weeks of the month the most expensive as that's when mortgage, council tax & most of our other DD's go out! All the best!

Hi again. Well another unexpected bill has hit us right where it hurts again:mad: ! Changed Utility companies a few weeks back from British Gas to e-on. We were paying £8 a month by DD for electricity with British Gas & whilst we knew that this wasn't enough to pay to cover the amount of electric we were sing,we thought that we might aswell let them change the amount that we were paying,as it was better being in our bank than their's. Had a shock when I logged on a couple of weeks back to find the bill had mounted up to £485:eek: ! They said that they would continue taking £8 a month so we needed to do nothing,as they would take it out of the bank. I emailed them to find out if this was our final bill but had no reply & forgot all about it to be honest & just thought they would carry on taking the £8. Logged on to our online bank account to find that the bar stewards had taken the full £485:mad: ! Luckily our overdraft covered this amount but now paying the bill back at 13% rather than 0%. So the good progress that we were making has taken a stumble yet again. So p!ssed off about it to be quite frank, but we will dust ourselves down & start again:( :(

My thoughts exactly:D !! We will never touch British Gas again with a bargepole!! Sometimes I wonder if it's worth the hassle of changing companies to be honest as it never seems to go smoothly:confused: . Before we were with British Gas we were with Npower & they owed us £15. Thought they would automatically send us a cheque but I had to phone up which cost about £3 to ask them to send it. Just makes you wonder how many people they owe money to & don't send it to them unless they ask for it, you & I are right bar stewards the lot of them:D ! All the best, back tomorrow!!
