My new kitten loves the tree! When we were putting the tree up she was diving into the tinsel and chewing bits of the tree, she tried attacking a mini snowman! She is funny but when we're not looking you'll hear a meow and she'd be at the top in 2 seconds flat ?!?!?!

Well, we have two very similar (and funny!) threads about this so I shall merge them for your further delight.

We have a 12 foot tree at work, no cats to amuse us however.

I never found a solution to this when my cats were kittens they, stripped the tree bare in two days,I even found some of the decorations in the garden. They had carried them through the cat flap.
:rotfl: hahahaha, I've now got visions of cats stealing out of the cat flap with lurid decorations in mouths heehehehe, did they take the lights too? ;)

My current kitties seem quite happy to leave well enough alone, but in the past I have also had to tie the tree to a screw in the wall ..... My tree only looked nice for about 2hrs until they climbed it, and started pulling baubles off, and I started removing tinsel and ribbons for fear of linear foreign bodies :rotfl:

Seriously, I have no idea how other people manage, apart from minimal deccies, and tying it to the wall?

    seems i spoke too soon.......

i had to switch to a fake tree, only 5 feet tall too. they just like to sit under it - thankfully!

That's interesting. we udes to have a fake tree and our cat would be up it every year without fail. Last year we got a real tree and he never once tried to climb it. The bottom baubles still ended up on the floor every day though:confused:

Aaawwww Bless em, they just love christmas trees lol.

My mum has a houseful of cats and her tree goes up about the 15th it is tied to the wall in 4 places and the decs are all tied on tightly, tinsel and beads are put on so if they come off they are reasonably easy to place back on, she uses citronella oil as her lot hate it and orange oil on tissues........still thought they climg the tree and manage to knock it over at every oppertunity.

I have 3 lively girls and this is 2 of thems first christmas, the older cat likes to sneak behind the tree for a sneaky nibble(of the tinsel stuff)but we hear her crunching away and chase her off lol,she thinks we can't see her but we can hear her.

The other 2 thanks god aren't interested they still love running full speed up and down my leather sofa :O i think i might prefer them to attack the tree lol.

I did notice a baubel on the floor this morning but i think it fell down of it's own accord as none of them are interested in baubles.

The net lights on the windows i have been keeping a very careful eye on as the older cat(christmas tree sneaky nibbler) has been known to crunch on a bulb while they wernt on but this was as a kitten ans she is 3 now and hasn't been bothered with them lol.

Ahhh don't you just love christmas !!!!!!!

So far our kittens haven't tried to climb it yet, just playing with the baubles and biting the branches.
I am not tempting fate though, they are being shut out of the lounge at nights to keep them from causing mischief ;)
