Evening all. Late check in as we took smalls to big smoke today. As fresh on the south bank I can tell you
We used our passes that are nearly expired to get in one last exhibition :money: spent ages in a free museum :money: we did buy some food, but took snacks and drinks with us. Also bought 3 amazing spicy sausages from a food market that will feature heavily in menu planning this week. We've had some on sour dough tonight for a snackwe drove most of the way (free fuel) and got saver tickets on train. Less than £20 for all 4 of us.
Sour dough ok, but a bit flat. May just need a bit more mixture so can upscale. Tastes ok thoughthanks for the advice foxgloves
Other things:
Used ys chicken (25p) for sandwiches I made for journey back
Took some on offer chocolate rolls for car picnic too
Checked banking, moved some money around. Paid of a transaction on cc that I'd spent online for an offer. Don't use debit card on line
Played around with mortgage overpayment calculator. Worked out what we'd need to do to pay it off in 15 years. Seems doable if we're focused. Hubby seems on board
Hubby got a 5% payrise :T
Put some stuff in freezer
Still not been shopping :T
Look in to making my own vanilla extract after ready someone else's diary, seems too straightforward but loads of amazing feedback on research. I do use quite a bit, will also help with my aim to reduce plastic.
See best way to portion up 36 chicken breasts without creating plastic mountain
Missed several snow showers today but it's coming down quite heavy now, no chance to plant the raspberry canes that were delivered yesterday. May stay at home and hibernate tomorrow and batch cook0 -
Morning all
Woke up to lots of snow again - it really is beyond a joke nowWe want spring back! Anyway, no need to go out, and we don't need anything. Glad we used our event tickets yesterday (could have used them either day) or the money would have been wasted, as wouldn't fancy chancing non-essential travel in these conditions.
Today's plans:
Defrosted gammon joint soaking in cold water to ensure it isn't too salty when roasted later
Will have cooked fruit from freezer for breakfast instead of bought fresh fruit
Wash hair and allow to dry naturally
Check banks and update spreadsheet
Do some batch cooking as no chance of gardening today!
And some cleaning
No plans for spending, so should manage another NSDto add to my rather meagre total this month
Hope the weather is better where you all are (it is snowing quite hard again here, adding to that already on the ground), and that everyone has a good day

Dawn I know what you mean. Give me back spring. Significant amount fell overnight, luckily we were back from our jaunt by then and tucked up in the warm. Not sure we will be going out today. We won’t even risk swimming lessons just to get there and we told no instructor. Could do will going out for loo roll at some point, a new out of town home bargains opened last year which is same distance for us as town so we may venture there later when it’s warmed up a bit and some traffic has gone by. Well ditch our plan to go to the Swedish store though and get a unit. That can definitely wait.
Other things:
Prep another sour dough to bake tomorrow
Make some hm mini cheddars for lunch boxes
Make some savoury muffins for lunch boxes
Sort out Lego ready for when storage does come
Order some cheap contact lenses online
Sort girls clothes out for those that are too small and put some of next size in
Same for shoes and wellies
May start labelling for sale if I get chance as it’s only a couple of weeks away
Sort pile of paperwork and recycle what we don’t need. Should be some envelopes, backs of stuff that are plain that I can use for scrap
Check meal plan and finalise a list I can perhaps go and get tomorrow
Hopefully both DH and I can walk to the gym
That should do I think. Stay warm and safe peeps.0 -
Morning all,
Bah! So much snow overnight. It could be a very money saving day if we can't get to Aldi this morning, but we've got to try because we didn't do our weekly food shop yesterday, as we had 150 mile round trip to Mum's. At least we know she has a full freezer.
And apparently more snow forecast for today. Mr f has already dug out catflap (cat took one look & refused to go out) & put plenty of bird food out. Our robins are tucking in already.
I'm not sure what else I'll get done today as the priority has to be food shopping. Planning to take shovel along with shopping bags, list, etc.
Oh well, time to get several layers on,

Morning
It's not too bad here snow wise. Going to be bloody freezing though as we have arranged to take my godson out to the zoo for his birthday and then for something to eat. Better wrap up warm!
Things for today:
* hang up washing
* get clothes, bags, food ready for tomorrow
* make soup for my lunches
* dinner is joint of pork meant for yesterday (that didn't defrost!)
* will do rubber pork duties as joint is big
* grate cheese and make breadcrumbs and freeze
* make a few more sanitary pads - last night was a great success! Have organised another session in a few weeks
* playing games, reading & crafting when not out/busy
* thinking we're going to watch ET with madam
* have a pamper session tonight, mani, pedi & facial
Ok that's all I can think of! Happy Sunday!DF as at 30/12/16

Happy sunday fellow frugalers!
It's my twinbabies 2nd birthday today. Never thought we'd survive it to be honest but they are great kids (yes I know I'm biased)
Today will be:
:A going to in laws for tea party so using their heating, electric etc
:A frugal birthday cake is finished! Cost 79p as everything else was in store cupboard
:A have some party food to cook but will probably have enough leftovers to last all week
:A blow up birthday boy/girl balloons leftover from last year.
:A wrap birthday presents using wrapping paper leftover from xmas
:A order genuine apple chargers from @mazon using survey vouchers (been using £shop cheapies but they only last a couple of weeks so false economy)
And a big one
:A my lovely stepdad has fixed my electric!!! Water was tracking in along the cable for the security light and got into the fusebox Cost me £11 for a new socket and some wire as he's moved it away from the area so the problem wont happen again. I'll also get him some beers but that has still saved me megabucks on an electrician and means I have my beloved freezers and tumble drier back.
Now to remove all the washing from all over the house - as you can imagine we make a lot of washing with twins and cant peg out as DH has severe pollen allergies (yes even at this time of year) so it's everywhere!
Think thats about it - off to blow up my baloons nowTotal debts £21050! now £10941. 76. Total extra income made in Jan22 £109. 27 Feb 22 £45.25 Total extra income made in 2022 £154.52 Aiming for debt free at 45 - 41 months to go!0 -
Hi March Money Magicians,
Having an eventful "significant" DW's birthday. Last night we heard a small disturbance in the street outside. Got up this morning to find the window in our communal downstairs door had been broken. Called landlady who came out immediately. Reported to Police.
Got on with DW's birthday and then the doorbell rang and it was another Police officer asking if we knew anything about our quiet, mild-mannered neighbour downstairs being assaulted last week. We didn't. It seemed the poor guy, a minister, had been jumped in the street late at night a few days ago.Not sure if the two incidents are connected.
Got on with birthday. _party_
Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Three:
* Work very hard on my own mental health issues. Do Holistrio App.
* Check online banking and broadband usage.
* Turned off alarm clock until tonight, it resets itself automatically.
* DW's choice of meal today is roast lamb so that's in the oven just now.
* Gifts were wrapped in leftover paper from Decemberfest.
* Cleaned inside of car. It was shameful. Didn't pay someone else to valet it.
* Cleaned hosue with washable cloths and Stardrops.
* Going away overnight tomorrow. Need to plan and pack later.
* Drinking £4.99 Cava.
* Cleaned our windows...but I didn't make a very good job of it. Not quite sure why they've come up so badly.

Good Afternoon All
Been AWOL for a few days (again) but have kept the "small things" faith and managed this week:
Car Insurance renewal came through - compared prices, spoke to current insurer and manage to save £160 ish on renewal
Took out a free trial on KOBO and downloaded free audio book
Listened to a few podcasts (DS downloaded for me)
Read library books
Collected a couple of freebies on COS and Shopmium (and uploaded receipts)
Baked apple pie
Made sugar free jellies for snacks
Deep cleaned mum's flat
Checked Bank and made PADs
All washing done
Purged a few emails
Entered a few comps
Swagbucks - claimed my first £10
Surveys - claimed £15
All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer
Checked: Tombola Stars, Lucky Bob, Luckyphone, FPL
So, although I've not been feeling great we've done OK. Stay safe and warm all.
