CLF, if they definitely don't ask for them back then 60 slightly sub standard Shayla cards might be winging their way to you :rotfl:
Honestly - my dad is so MSE he would give Martin Lewis :money:a run for his money. My dad would be so thrilled to get those cards and literally we would get them for every birthday, Easter and Christmas until they ran out :rotfl:
Example: He literally presented us all with pound shop watches at Christmas and he was so proud! He went into lots of details about why it was such an excellent bargain and how we could use them in the garden etc.LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 -
Morning folks
Looks like lots of excellent mseness going on. Got a lot to get through today so a list is very important. We are going on a little holiday (UK) trip for a few days so have stuff to do.
Slight change of plan last night and went for a pint- B/L/D from stores.
- Get the car from the garage - good news! Some sort or repair was effected and only cost £57 instead of £300! However if it breaks again, we have to do the expensive repair.
- Print off hotel bookings at work - done
- Email Crossfit box in Leeds to see if we can train there on Friday - done
- Email EcoEgg to say that my parcel has never arrived - arrived in today's post!
- Put away all washing
- Whizz hoover round
- Pack bags
- Check that the heating works on timer d/t expected cold snap - done
- Charge phone in work - done
- Gym at lunchtime - done. Body did not want.
- No alcohol (although there is one lonely beer in the fridge...)
- Freeze/eat anything that won't last til Monday
- Top up peas with more soil as the level sank after watering
Have a good one all

Morning all
Today's list looks like this:
More mint plants / roots outside front door for a freecycler, not many bags left now(Had to split up 2 huge tubs of mint, and I won't throw plants - or indeed anything - away if someone else can use them) Someone else asked too, so 2 bags gone
Make curried parsnip soup for lunchDone
Mushroom risotto for dinnerDone
All making use of items I have in the fridge
Check fridge for anything that needs using or freezing, and list the veg I will need from the market tomorrow morningDone
Sow some more seeds - leeks today I think! Will check to see what else I have that can go in now - no point in sowing tender things yet though! Well, I did sow some leeks (in a pot) but it was so cold I didn't stay out for long
Some clearing / tidying in the garden
Check banks and update spreadsheet Done
Check for surveys if I can be bothered, flagging a bit on this! Logged into onepoll, was screened out of the single survey availableOught to look at the other sites really, but struggling to be bothered atm
RM surveys tasks Done, don't like their new web site
Load of washing dried on line
Washed and pegged out to dry a large ziplock freezer bag (small things, right? :rotfl:)
Had 3 separate phone calls from 'Microsoft technical department' to helpfully tell me there is a problem with my computer and only they can fix it :rotfl: Not really funny, as they prey on people they think might be vulnerableTold them where to get off each time, Pretty peed off by the third time  and was not polite!
More coffee needed I think!0 -

Morning Wednesday Penny-Wranglers,
Useful day so far on the frugal front:
*Did final laundry load for this week on half-price overnight tariff - am testing laundry product for a survey site at the moment, so am using a freebie. All pegged outside & blowing in the chilly sunshine.
*Sourdough mixed for baking tomorrow. Jar fed to keep it going for next loaf.
*Dough also made for tonight's pizza base & a batch of cobs. Just on its first proving.
*Use last of Sunday's rubber chicken in pizza topping. I cut it up small & toss it in home made fajhita spice mix then use it with peppers, chillies, onions, cheese, etc, to make a kind of vaguely Mexican inspired pizza. Main thing is it's low calorie, tasty & is the sort of meal which helps stop those urges for ordering a takeaway.
*Done some Easter planning - what I'm baking for family buffet & what gifts we will be giving. I intend to make all the gifts myself. Gone is the £30+ Easter egg spend (& that's with no children of our own & a very small family generally)
*Checked tender veggie seedlings. 3 tomato seeds not up yet. They may appear or may not bother. I have already sown some back-up ones which I got for 25p, so should have enough. Chilli seedlings looking good. Aubergines & peppers not up yet.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch - not yet done, but lunch box out ready.
*Made a small list for town this afternoon so as to keep focused. Often it's the wandering round kind of feeling like buying something which ends up with an unnecessary purchase that is actually only partly right for what I had in mind. Will try to get free parking, as I don't mind walking in from the outskirts.
*Leftover wraps for lunch & I shall freeze the rest as there are still plenty of refried beans in the freezer which will easily do further meals.
*Knit more of my throw later on.
NOT money saving - Have received notification that our monthly dd for gas & electricity is going up by £16 a month, which I think is quite a lot. That will be £106. We paid £107 a month for ages (I think 2 or 3 years) & kept building up such a surplus that they reduced it to £90 a month. I personally think they're hedging their bets because everyone is expecting prices to rise, & more so post-Brexit, & we have just used more over the last month with me having been poorly & having had that snowy week. I don't think I will contest the rise. I think I will make sure we revisit all our little energy-saving ways & see if we can't get the payment reduced again this time next year when they review it. If I do see a silly amount of surplus, I will ask for it to be refunded. But it's another rise....on top of water rates & I know council tax will be rising too. Really glad I put the work into saving £100 on our recent car insurance renewal now. Very important to stick to budgets with the economy being so uncertain. I'm afraid that whatever we're told officially, I don't think there is any good UK economic news yet for the vast majority of us.
Cheerful bunny, aren't I? (am realistic bunny).
Off to think about lunch now.

Afternoon all - happy hump day!
Trying to get back into posting daily as I've found my motivation sliding a fair bit since I've not been doing that. I've had a really spendy week with mother's day and having to buy the twins some desperately needed clothing. Am facing the possibility that i will be over my weekly budget for the first time since LBM and this is depressing me hugely - also the rain has caused the electrics to trip out in the garage so I've lost my tumble drier and two freezers until I can get an electrician - luckily I managed to squeeze everything decent from the freezer into the small one inside so we've not lost any meat or anything valuable but it's still annoying.
Some highlights this week however:
:A finished shopping for the twins birthday presents - mostly using survey vouchers - not paid full price for anything.
:A eldest wanted to "buy" the twins a gift also so we used my boot advantage points to cover that
:A 4p roadkill to debt jar
:A will be making the twins a cake and found i already have everything needed in my store cupboard apart from icing which i'll get from HB for 79p
:A done balance transfer of £4k from a card at 24.9% to 0% that should save me £70 a month in interest.
:A council tax on 2nd house will be going down by £30 per month due to clearing backlog.
:A mum gave me 6 eggs from her new chickens
:A £40 cashed out from survey sites this week. Will go to debt jar.
:A two loads of washing done using gloop (still very impressed!)
:A washing on airer as tumble drier is temporarily kaput
:A b and l from store cupboard
:A dinner will be something salvaged from the freezer
:A planted some raspberry and blackberry canes and prepped my other beds ready for peas, potatoes and onions.
:A expecting £145 travel expenses on Friday however it's late and I've already bought most of my petrol - so £100 of that can go towards holiday spends.
Think thats about it for now - we go on holiday week after next so will be doing some frugal planning to see how cheap i can get things .Total debts £21050! now £10941. 76. Total extra income made in Jan22 £109. 27 Feb 22 £45.25 Total extra income made in 2022 £154.52 Aiming for debt free at 45 - 41 months to go!0 -
Haven't had much chance to post, RL and catching up on the paperwork that I had so efficiciently dodged last week just had to be done
Welcome to the newbies, it is a brilliant thread, keeps u on the straight and narrow:T
Have managed to sell a couple of items on eB@y. I'm currently looking at a massive parcel of 2 cushions that are going by courier tomorrow(much cheaper than RM). Didn't get a lot for them but the satisfaction of seeing them go will be great:) They are massive cushions that lined the back of the settee. The other softer ones will make great animal beds so they are going to the local animal shelter.
Made my chicken curry in the slow cooker. Didn't have all of the spices, ended up throwing in a chicken tikka chilli powder. Has been really nice, had no room in the freezer so have been chomping my way through it with rice, jacket potatoes etc. Has been nice to take as a snack aswell. Have to say it was much better the day after when the flavours really kicked in.
Banking all checked, direct debits up to date.
As I'm seeing monies building again I have started to really plan for operation living room.
It looks like I have another leak coming through from the bathroom. The wet room has been a nightmare ever since it was done last year:(
My mum is on a mission to sort out my mount ironing Everest. She has just bought a tumble drier so I am washing everything again(which isn't a bad thing........cat hair!) Just so she can play with the tumble drier:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Leg still swollen, it's frustrating having to elevate in the early evenings, feels like I have a shortened day but if it means I don't get any sores then bring it on:cool:
My RM survey stuff is right up the creek. Have had my first email but not the second to be able to log in. I've received loads of post that needs entering aswell:eek:
Well that's about it from me, off to do a thorough cat clean. Good time as it is afternoon siesta time for the kitties in the Happy Kitties household:rotfl:

Evening all, my day started late and is finishing late again, I feel kind of guilty sleeping late but I have done a lot of work into the evening which I prefer.
I did pop to the small Mr T for some eggs and butter, a branded one had a 2 for £3.20 deal which made it the cheapest which is shocking.
Lunch was eggs, mushroom and fried tomatoes with bread and butter, yummy. Dinner was a jacket potato and cheese for me and I cooked a YS chicken breast joint and mash for DS. I'm not making any wild promises about becoming vegetarian again (I was for 13 years in my distant past) but I'm going to make a conscious effort to eat less meat (unless it's free range.)
I collected the new cards and they are all decorated and packaged up ready to be sent tomorrow. Realistically I need to double my sales if this is going to be my only income but I can do that, right? I'm feeling optimistic.
Someone from a local garage dropped off my free tyres this evening, I've not seen them yet but it's all quite exciting, I'm not sure whether to paint them white to match the wall or leave them black. I'm gutted however that I will have to pay for raspberry canes since the gardening companies are no longer participating in clubcard deals.
I haven't done much in the way of housework though DS must have been reading my list as I came back from the shop to find him vacuuming the landing :eek:Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Morning
yippee to a day off :j After Monday, my last day off, when the day ended being very chorey I intend to get my chores done asap and then relax. I really felt when I went back to work on Tuesday and yesterday that I hadn't had enough down time!
I have to do a lot of miles in my car and get 45p mileage rate. Which means I get a ridiculous amount back in expenses. I've decided above and beyond petrol costs I will split it each month to car piggy (probably going to need more maintenance as have an old car) & over paying mortgage :T (apart from any cheeky expenses I have. I need a new coat but have seen a couple I like on fleabay )
