Cheery's country living adventure

Wow, mine's never been so long other people have slept on it! That's very impressive
I cut my own hair now. In the city by the sea, I used to get it cut every 3 months, a walk in hairdresser cost a tenner, and I never had a bad haircut. That all had to stop when I got the full blown chronic fatigue, but I made myself go to a hairdresser when my youngest nephew got married - erm, five and a half years ago
it could do with tidying up, it really could, but I'm just not going to go there
Very glad you got a cut you felt good with, Cheery!2023: the year I get to buy a car9 -
Lol you lot! I can't say I've ever had a problem with anyone else sleeping on it 😂 but I do end up in a tangled strangled mess myself sometimes. Can't bear sleeping with it tied up though.
Didn't sleep particularly well last night despite the hair cut 🙄 Mr Cheery came up about 3, and it took me forever to drift off again, and I just don't feel well rested and ready for the day at all.
Which is a shame, as there's lots to do today. Car for MOT, then to work, got teaching this afternoon to prepare for, and also an informal interview for a little new role I want to take on (I'm most vexed about this - if nobody else had volunteered they would have just given it to me, but they did, so now they're interviewing 😂 Just an informal one, but I still want to be prepared, and only had 48 hours notice).
Anyway. Builders are coming back today, to do lights and skirting. Need to ring him back in a min to confirm that yes, we want pine skirting not MDF, yes, we understand that it will be hard to stick to our bendy walls (because we wouldn't let them build stud walls to make them straight), and no, we don't want them to use screws. It's almost like we're trying to make life difficult... 🙄😂8 -
We too have walls with lots of character. When we renovated and replaced some of the skirting boards with more age appropriate style our builders put groves in the back so the boards could cope with curves.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Evening chums 😊
Gosh this week has just barrelled by 😮
Interview went pretty well I think - I did as much prep as I could given it was informal with no set job description, and I'd only had 48 hours notice. Rather annoyingly, they're interviewing another couple of people next week - so I could have had more time to prepare after all. Instead I took them at their word when they said 'interviews will be on Thursday 😠
Hey ho, it's done with now (and no drinks were spilled, although I did lock myself in the room, and had to get a stranger walking past to shove on the outside to get out again! 😂 fortunately the interview was on zoom so they didn't see that bit 😂
Car has passed MOT and had battery replaced. No idea if it needed anything else, but battery was struggling to start so we'd asked them to check it. Will collect tomorrow.
Builder and electrician have been here, but apparently not for long. Bedroom light fittings and plug sockets are attached, but not working, and skirting board is in the bedroom, but none of it is attached to the walls 🙄😂 Not entirely sure what they were doing all day - looking at the scenery?! Don't know if they're coming back tomorrow, will text in the morning.
Texted farmer this morning because we thought there was a dead calf - but the minute I sent the text, the bloody thing stood up 😂he came round anyway, and it seemed ok, although clearly there's something going on as he came down the drive and into the field about 9pm, which is VERY unusual, and quite alarmed me as we never get unexpected vehicles down here.
What else? Oh, message today saying we're all getting £250 in our January wages as a thank you for all our hard work or something - I'll only get £200 as it's pro rata, although I was working full time through the whole pandemic... hey ho - a nice gesture (although a pay rise in line with inflation would have been a nicer one 😂 )
Heard back from kitchen geezers - the handles we've chosen will cost n extra £25 on top of what they'd already allowed. Yawn.
I think that's it! It's felt like quite an eventful day, so I'm worn out and in bed already. Best actually go to sleep!9 -
Oh! And Mr Cheery's dad has given us £100 as a wedding present (we got married in 2018 😂), and decided he wanted to contribute to kitchen appliances so I'll add that to the kitchen fund 😊
Although Mr Chrey thinks he may have got caught by a speed camera on the way home, so it might be in one hand, out the other... 🙄9 -
Morning MSE chums! The sun is shining, it's Friday, so I'm not at work, and the builders aren't coming, so the chickens are roaming free. And we are currently in our favourite cafe, after eating our favourite breakfast, so all is right with the world 😊😊
Farmer neighbour rang at 7.30 this morning to tell me he'd been over to check the cows, and the boot of the car was open and the light on 🙄 Not entirely sure what we did there - we were ferrying stuff back and forth last night, and obviously just forgot to shut it the last time, and I'd parked further up the drive in case the builders came back so couldn't see the car from the house. He offered to jump start it for us, bless him, but actually it started fine by itself.
Builder had left us a note scribbled on the plasterboard which we hadn't seen in the dark last night - just thinking we didn't have enough wall lights, but we do - we just only left the upstairs ones out because they were only doing upstairs.
Not sure on plans for today. We'll take advantage of the builders not being there to do some cleaning and tidying - we've been out late most nights this week and everywhere got a bit of a tip. Might have a little trip to Wilkos for paint.
First of all going to have another cup of tea in the cafe though 😁7 -
Ooh, transferred the money from Mr Cheery's dad, and the covid vouchers money, to the kitchen fund, which now stands at £5026.25, which is 71.8% 😊😊
Need to get back to the Happy Wheel this weekend though, else I'll have nothing else to add to it!8 -
