Thank you all for your kind words xxx we are sad and the others seem a little confused, but Beaky's spirit will live on xxx
Excitement today - I went OUT! We are having a week-long work event at a hotel (just during the days) and obviously I missed yesterday, but I made it today!
It was SO nice to be somewhere else, with some cheery colleagues and no distractions. SO lovely.
Had to dash home to hand Mr Cheery the car - he's spending the evening about a mile away from where I spent the day, but we didn't want to both have to be there 9am til midnight, and the other car is feeling a little precarious right now (it's going to the garage tomorrow).
So I have an evening to myself! And no idea what to do with it - so far just been sitting outside and revelling in glorious silence 😁
Come back inside now though to make some tea (and do the washing up and tidying and hoovering... 🙄).
Oh! And our second hand kitchen has fallen through! Pah!! Most vexing. But we've had a quote from the builder's chums so will sit and compare them all over the next couple of days.
Right - tea and tidying! Tempted to just have a snack so I can spend more time outside, but that does happen quite often... 🙄7 -

I'm so sorry to hear that Beaky has crossed the Bridge. And that your second-hand kitchen hasn't worked out
How lovely to get a day 'out' and then a quiet evening, I hope you enjoyed it.
I was hoping to sing outside this evening but, unfortunately, 'rain stopped play'.It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.3 -
Thank you all xx
Sorry to hear you were rained off hb! How vexing!
Yes I had a lovely evening in the end. Did a good tidy up of the kitchen and a hoover - not remotely exciting but we still had dishes piled up from the weekend so necessary 🙄 Sat with the chickens for a while, gave them a treat.
Then had my monthly goals meeting with my sister 😁 We've met at the end of every month this year to make plans and hold each other (kind of) accountable.
I'd not met all my goals for June, but since it's also involved three 5-hour trips to the vets, losing a beloved pet, 3 hospital visits for Mr Cheery, both of us having a tooth out, a new car (with associated fiasco), and all the palaver with various kitchens, I was never going to get much else done on top 🙄
She finishes her job tomorrow - but one of her sons has to self isolate so work won't let her go into the office, so she's missing the party! 🙄 She's NOT impressed 🙄
So both of us are happy to draw a line under June.
Anyway, also did a half hour yoga video - I often try to sneak in 10 mins so it was nice to do more. Then started watching a film but Mr Cheery got home earlier than I thought he would (miscommunication - it was exactly when he'd planned to).
Gosh it was nice to be on my lonesome for a few hours though!
Financial things to sort out tomorrow:
* got some car-related lost to open - just V5c form and confirmation of insurance I think but best check before I shove it in a drawer.
* transfer £50 for covid study into kitchen fund
* transfer £49 matched betting dosh from MB account and then into kitchen fund
* final YNAB tally once Mr Cheery's pension is paid - want to transfer £580 to kitchen fund (old mortgage overpayment)
* need to figure out the deal with the credit card - I applied for one to get the cashback, but haven't actually used it at all - feel like I don't know how 😂 They did send me a pin - what did I do with that?! Need to figure out where will take the damn thing
* need to print latest covid vouchers
* not heard from them for a while- might check last bit of paperwork and then ring to see if they've forgotten us - we were meant to be giving blood next time so maybe we're on a different list now
* need to swap over to using my new debit card - old one expires tomorrow
* ooh, also need to check Amazon account - did YNAB earlier and it looks like I've paid £7.99 for amazon prime - except I'm pretty certain I never signed up for it...
That's probably quite enough financial nonsense - good to get it out of my head!
Oh, and my youngest nephew's birthing is coming up, rather sooner than I thought 😮 I've sent a present now, but he also wants a hand drawn picture so need to get on the case!!6 -
Still a day of June left Cheery - don't write off hitting those goals yet 🤣!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!6 -
😂😂 Fat chance!
Mr Cheery decided he didn't fancy walking back from the garage this morning, so I had to go with him, then drive him home, then drive to the writing retreat - pretty much exactly what I was trying to avoid but hey ho 🙄 Had to post the keys through the garage door - hope they got them and someone didn't randomly burgle them!
Had a message from builder's kitchen fitter - they'd suggested coming over on Thursday to have a look, but are now cancelling as one of them has pulled a muscle and is off work 🙄 Apparently next week should be ok (and is probably more convenient for me as I'll be working at home anyway, but I'm rather sick of things dragging on now. Builder said once we've decided which way to go with the kitchen he'll confirm dates (shouldn't need to wait as he's got 3 weeks of work to do BEFORE fitting the kitchen, !!!!!!!)
He's also replied to me a couple of times now and completely ignored my question about moving the sink.
Grrr. Sick of the lot of them today! This is like moving house all over again! I thought the whole point of getting someone else in to do everything was so I wouldn't need to project manage?? (Although I suppose the builder was never going to sort out the car etc so I shouldn't be too harsh 😂 )5 -
Garage rang - can't find the locking wheel nut for the car 🙄 Told him to knock them all off and replace with normal ones. Also there are TWO things wrong with the car, but they can only fix one today, so I have to book it back in next week. Except the other car is going in next week, so it'll have to wait 🙄
And I've ordered my sister some cakes on Just Eat as she's having a rubbish day - ordered at 11.30, estimated time of arrival 12.35 to 12.55 (why?! It's only a couple of miles away and they're not making them from scratch!) And they've still not arrived!! I've rung and apparently they'll be there 'any minute'.
They've got six minutes before I leave a very scathing review 😡
