Well, you can be grateful that you're not in an easily-imaginable worse situation, but the situation you/re are actually in is really testing you and causing you a lot of stress. It's so hard to keep going when the demands are both constant and urgent
I hope you get some rest over the weekend - friends there doing the chicken renovations to give you a laugh? Or more stress? I hope the former.2023: the year I get to buy a car8 -
Awww Cheery - I'm sorry to hear you are having such a tough time of it - it is heartening though that you are able to vocalize and label what those stresses are.
I hope you have a weekend that helps you to rest and restore so that you have a fresh start to the week!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Thanks ladies xxx
Yes, I think it's the relentlessness of things at the minute. Each individual thing is fine, but the last few months have been tough, and I'm so close to the edge that one more tiny thing tips me over it sometimes - a tiny thing that would normally be quite reasonable.
The weekend should be ok - although it's not started well with Mr Cheery waking me up as he got up to go to the loo, then complaining loudly when my alarm went off not long afterwards 🙄 Alarm is only on so I can let the chickens out - I would LOVE it if he'd done it and I could have a lie in! But no - I didn't even get a snoozing period, just straight up, which I'm not great at at the best of times.
Going to get a cuppa and sit on the sofa with some gardening youtube videos in the peace and quiet I think 😁 then maybe a gentle local walk - it's a glorious day out there. But I need a sit down first!
Friends are coming today - they're Mr Cheery's more than mine but are cheerful and helpful and there will at least be no squabbling while they're here 🙄
Hoping the bike shop fixes at least one of my bikes so I can go for a ride at some point! No plans for tomorrow (although of course the usual list of kitchen/outdoor tasks) - I might insist on disappearing for a few hours by myself and turning my phone off 😁9 -

I don't want to sound complainy, but I confess I am sick of people and animals and inanimate objects needing me to do things right now, especially in work time. Yes I can be flexible, but I feel like it's getting a bit ridiculous - and of course the bit of my work that suffers isn't the immediate, putting out fires bit, it's the longer term career development stuff that'll get me that promotion. Or won't - at the rate I'm going I'm going to have nothing extra worthwhile to add to the form AGAIN by the spring 😢
Sigh.I hear you Sister. And if my brother-in-law asks again (14th year in a row) if we're enjoying our Summer off - because academics are apparently on holiday and do nothing between May and September - can I bury him under your chicken extension? I'll help you gt it finished

Ha, yes, feel free 😂 I mean, I've got about 5 weeks holiday to take before September so can't really complain - but also a million other things to do without even counting preparing for September. I do have plenty of land though so make use of it as you will 😁
Watched a couple of videos and feeling a bit more chipper, although currently in the process of trying to persuade Beaky to take her medicine so my chipperness might wear off pretty soon 🙄9 -
Videos sound good, and friends sound good. Beaky, not so much. A quiet walk by yourself with the phone turned off at some stage sounds great.2023: the year I get to buy a car8

Well if you are offering up use of your land, I can think of a couple of additions who have taxed my patience this week!
As KC says - take care of you hunny! - A bit of me time is just what you need!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Cheery, walk or not you certainly sound as if you need some 'me time', you don't seem to get much of that at the moment
I'm not suggesting that you should be like Mr HB and me - and spend most of your time in separate rooms - but time to decompress is precious.
It's not difficult!
'Wander' - to walk or move in a leisurely manner.
'Wonder' - to feel curious.6 -
Thank you all xxx
Yes, I certainly do need a bit more time on my own. Part of the issue is I'm in a separate room working all day (with interruptions) but when I finish, Mr Cheery has been on his own all day, so wants to hang out with me. Fair enough, but I do need to make a bit more time just on my own.
Not today though! Friends came round and we have made EXCELLENT progress on the chicken extension, it now has two sides and the wall is nearly in place to hold the front.
Not the best picture but you get the idea. Of course the garden is like a building site, as well as the house... but still, progress.
Collected my bikes - one is fixed, the other needs a new gear cable which apparently can't be had until 30th September 😮 that's my whole summer of cycling up and down the trails gone! I can take the other bike of course, but it's much less easy to just throw in the car (which means I'll likely wimp out more often...). So now I'm going to spend some time looking to see if I can find the darn gear cable somewhere else (I know it's a weird one, but 30th September?? Really??)
Anyway, tired after our day working with pals, so a nice quiet evening is in order I think.10 -
Chicken hotel looking good, hope you manage a bit of a me time chill at some point.4
