Cheery's country living adventure

Thanks all. I did force myself out to the cafe earlier, but quite frankly it was a bit of a trial even doing that! 😮 Had a bath in the afternoon which took away some of the shiveryness at least, but I've just been so darn tired - nearly nodded off in the greenhouse just now when I went to put the fleece back over the plants 🙄😂
Hope I liven up before work tomorrow!6 -
I've been told by the Long Covid clinic to expect a 2 week relapse which I'm not thrilled about. The only solution is rest.6

Oh dear Greenbee! Hope that doesn't materialise for you...
Well I've been doing a bit of financial shuffling. YNAB and banks checked and all in order. Got an LPG payment going out at the end of the month (almost £600) so there's enough in there for that. I must check what rate we're on and see if I can get a better deal - although we won't have another delivery now for a few months so no urgency. More important to sort out a new car!
Speaking of which... Old one is being collected from the garage tomorrow. Tax is due in May, so we likely won't get much of a refund for that. I did notice I'd been saving towards paying £140 again, but the new car is likely to be something with lower tax, so might be able to reallocate that somewhere.
I've checked the mortgage balance, as it's the three-monthly check-in for the Mortgage Free in Three challenge. We're currently standing at £184,458.86, an my aim for the challenge (which ends at the end of Jan 2022) was to get under £180,000, which we should easily manage now.
I'm going to have to change my signature I think. I've updated the spreadsheet to show the new regular overpayments with my four day week from September (although thinking about it, it'll be October payday, not September, when it changes) - which means the end date is now May 2038. Still about 5 years early - I'll be 58.
In all likelihood we'll get it down below that - eg if we throw Mr Cheery's state pension at it from 2029 it reduces to 2035... But all that seems far away. For now, I'll put the signature date down as 2038, taking into account only the regular overpayments we're making now (and what they'll change to with my change in working days), and we'll see what happens from there...
By the time my wages reduce in Sept/Oct we'll have paid for the kitchen, and be able to go back to allocating any extra income back to the mortgage again, so that will help!6 -
A four day week will be great! Chickens and your own woodland and lovely walks and lovely cafes - roll on September2023: the year I get to buy a car5

Roll on September indeed - although I don't want to wish the summer away too quickly! Lots of holiday to take, so I'll end up having quite a few four day weeks before then anyway
Not much to report here. Slept really well last night, and feel brighter this morning, thank goodness. MB now up to £40 for the month again, which is good, although I'd prefer if it was higher, of course! One of my prolific studies has been approved - but it was the 18p one, so I'm still only at £9.55. Hoping to be able to cash out this week!
What else? Nothing else! Mr Cheery has to go to the dentist this afternoon, so that'll be a drive into the city, hopefully not accompanied by too much spending (although we do park in the supermarket car park, so might pop in for some fruit). The only other plan is work, which I'd best go and get on with!6 -

Absolutely! Lots of lovely things happening between now and then.

Evening MSE chums 😊
Trip to the dentist was thankfully uneventful, and we didn't even go to the supermarket - stopped in the little local shop on the way home instead (they've started selling veggie burgers so we feel the need to buy them all so they'll keep stocking them 😂 )
Car has been collected, they've sent me a 'certificate of destruction' (sounds very dramatic) and the money is already in the bank - most impressive!
It's £182, and I've transferred it straight to the kitchen fund, which now stands at £704.67.
Should only be an hour of labour to pay the garage, so that can come from the normal car maintenance fund.
Nothing else financial to report today I don't think. I'm still discussing with work whether my switch to four days should be temporary or permanent, but my boss today filled in a form for the timetabling team to say I wouldn't be available on Fridays for the start of the new year in September. This makes me very happy indeed! 😊😊7 -
Morning MSE chums 😊
The sun is shining again, and the lowest the greenhouse got last night was 2.9 degrees so all good 😊
Another day in positive Happy Wheel figures, so total for the month currently stands at £53. Obviously I was around this earlier in the month and then went back into minus figures so not holding my breath!
Nothing else to report. Prolific STILL not tipped over £10, most vexing.
Nothing spendy planned today. Got lots of meetings spread through the day so won't have a cafe trip sadly, but that does mean no spending! I do need to get cousin's birthday card in the post - should have done it yesterday as I had the darn thing, just hadn't written it.
Oh, and I did get £10 in a card from an elderly relative - just deciding whether to add that to the kitchen fund or just spend it on treats 😁5 -
Morning! Erm ... afternoon
that thermometer sounds a great little research tool
and long may the Happy Wheel reign

I'll give the very 1st thumbs up that you spend it on treats. After all we all deserve a treat once in a while.
