Cheery's country living adventure

Oh car stress is not good but at least you have some resolution and decision made, good to hear they stuck the original quote too.
All the pension talk is interesting, think we are a similar age and I just seem to rely on my work pension (traditionally a good one) hoping I can take it at a reasonable age and I get a reasonable income. It's hard to know if you should be doing more isn't it.Inspired by the tea talk too, I'm a huge coffee drinker and have plenty of herbal tea in the cupboards but never think to have one to destress.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!7 -
Certainly is hard to know Cath, I've partly always just relied on knowing I can live on a low income if necessary. I suppose I've started thinking about it more now because Mr Cheery is older, and hasn't been well, and I'd like to work less so wanted to figure out the implications. If we were both the same age, and both still working full time, I probably wouldn't have been thinking about it at all!
Yesterday ended better than it started, thank goodness. Today is proving productive as well - up and did some exercising, and got into town for my first vaccine at 8.40am!
Just having a sit down and spinning the Happy wheel (doing well today!) and contemplating a non-strenuous day - bit of greenhouse pottering, maybe some batch cooking, that type of thing.
Ooh, and I forgot to do YNAB after payday so there's that to look forward to!8 -
Had a quick check of the bank - bank rewards payment has been made so I've transferred that £5 to the kitchen fund, currently standing at £522.67. Had an email to say they were dropping to a max of £2.20 a month from July which is a bit vexing, but hey ho.
MB was up over £40 this morning, which has brought me out of minus figures and back into a positive balance of £21 for the month. Pathetic, but better than nothing!
Prolific STILL standing at £9.37, pah!
Gloriously sunny here, and I'm feeling a bit ropey with one thing and another, so lying out with a blanket and a book on the grass. Most jolly.8 -
Sorry to hear of the ropiness, but the Happy Wheel is something. Lovely to think of you in the sunshine with a blanket and a book.2023: the year I get to buy a car6

Hope the sunshine parks you up cheery, it's been lovely here.
Do you think the MB/casino is worth it now for the effort put in? I cant decide and seems to eat away at family time, but that's probably because I faff too much. Do you just do the low risk TC offers?Mortgage start date Nov 2014 - £90,545 over 25 years

The initial sign ups were definitely worth it - I did about an hour a day and made about £5k in about 10 months.
Then Mr Cheery took his pension, and my job got busier, and I decided the time was more important, so I stopped for a year.
Started again early March this year, and made £182 last month. Yes, that's just low risk TC offers.
Right now, for me, it's worth it, with some caveats. I'm trying to offset some of the kitchen costs, and I do like to see a little bit of extra coming in, even though technically we don't NEED it. I just do NOT have the mental capacity to take on any kind of actual second job, and this is a bit of an income without requiring any commitment or much brain power. I can take or leave it on any given day and I'm not letting anyone down, and don't even have to let anyone know.
In a different position, getting a second job would likely be more lucrative for the hours spent... I generally spend around an hour a day, so what did that work out as in March? About £5.87 an hour - better than I thought! 😂
April's hourly wage is currently standing at £1.47 though...
So I guess it depends. I tend to do it in the morning, when there's only me up. I only use one device, my Internet connection isn't brilliant, and likely other people do it much faster than me. I try to do other things at the same time - breakfast, a bit of half arsed interval training, finances, blog post, letter writing, sorting out photos etc, so it feels like less of a waste of time when I end up down on any given day!
I know other people make more than me - maybe doing stuff i don't understand with horse racing, or doing every single casino offer, including the high risk ones. But I can't really justify more than an hour or so, and don't have time to do more than the low risk ones, even now I'm doing higher spin sizes (I generally do get through all the low risk ones each day though - those that I'm not gubbed from anyway!)
Still reserving judgement myself, but I'll definitely continue til the kitchen is paid for, and see how much extra we've got from it in those few months...
Does that answer your question? 😊
Tired this afternoon so I'm already in bed and will be asleep very soon... hoping for a more likely day tomorrow!6 -
Hmm, will a more lively day is looking less likely... Ended up on the sofa at 1.30am 😕 I just felt SO shivery, couldn't figure out if I was too hot or too cold 😕 Curled up on sofa, had some paracetamol, and ended up watching a film as I just couldn't settle. Finally nodded off about 4, then Mr Cheery got up at 7 to see what time it was (to let the chickens out), then I nodded off again and just woke up about 9.
So I suspect of lounging around and not being too energetic is in order... 🙄6 -
I was like this after I had my vaccine. Wrote a couple of days off. Take it easy you deserve a rest xx2025 Decluttering 10472⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The more I've read, the more people say, take it easy after the vaccine, don't push through your symptoms. That definitely sounds like a day of lounging is in order.2023: the year I get to buy a car8

Hope it passes soon Cheery - it’s pretty grotty but at least you know what it is! I’ve heard it’s much less of an issue when you go back for your second.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
