Cheery's country living adventure

Well I've calmed down slightly by nipping to the local shop for milk, having a rant at the woman who runs it, eating some chocolate, and listening to a podcast. Got back cheerful, but now Mr Cheery is grumpy because it's snowing 🙄😂😂 Rigging up a tarp as we speak - my suggestion if opening the front of the garage and sitting in there apparently dismissed as being to easy or something 🙄6

The garage makes sense, Cheery, of course it does
I really hope the visit went well, and good for you for taking the simple route with provisions. Maintenance ... I'm terrible at it. I don't particularly hate it, it just bores me rigid, and I often can't make myself do it. That's just how I am, I've realised. I'd be quite grumpy too if it was snowing as well, mind you
2023: the year I get to buy a car6 -
What were you thinking suggesting the easy option of the garage?
We haven't lived in a house with a garage for 15 years, I have never missed it until recently when I have been thinking about hosting visitors.
We have been discussing warm food to offer visitors so far we have come up with soup, bean stew or if we are doing the cooking outside bbq or calzone cooked on the fire if we can remember how to do it 🤣Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

Ha - I confess the tarp worked fine and it was much more pleasant than being sat in the dingy garage among all the cobwebs! 😂😂
We had a lovely time 😁 Been outside for about 5 hours though so very ready for a hot bath 😮 Got more visitors coming tomorrow so need to warm up properly before then!10 -
All my car maintenance is included in the package with my lease - but it comes at a cost 😳!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!8 -
Ha, yes SC, I can imagine! 😮 It's fine really - I mainly get in a strop because there's a big part of me thinks I SHOULD be doing this stuff myself, but I hate it, and I get slightly resentful that I don't have anyone mechanically handy knocking around that can do it for me 😂
Anyway, that's what breakdown cover is for! Will ring them at some point, more visitors today though so not today.
Sun is vaguely shining! Visitors gave themselves a get out clause (one had second jab yesterday and felt bad last time, so is seeing how he feels today) so they may turn up, or they may not.
I'm off to do some bank checking, Happy Wheel is spinning by my side as I speak, and then on to the ceiling, which I simply can't put off any longer!
Back in a bit to report on banking...7 -
Ok, YNAB reconciled and banks checked. Nothing to report. I'm still trying to catch up with myself a bit after throwing too much into premium bonds the other month, so this month's YNAB pots aren't fully filled yet (but they will be once I'm paid on Friday). Would like to get back to the situation I had before of wages on the 18th funding NEXT month, not this one.
This is easy to sort out of course, by just rejigging the savings pots a bit to fund this month, then starting from scratch with funding next month from this next pot of wages. Might do that - it would be far more satisfying - and then be a bit more diligent about not throwing too much into the savings pot!
Speaking of savings pots... Not had anything extra in to add to the kitchen fund yet this month, most vexing! No sign of premium bonds winnings yet (last month they were paid on the 8th, but I suppose we've had bank holidays), and no sign of the latest round of covid study vouchers either. Pah! Not done much on prolific as I've not been sat on the laptop - that's currently standing at £2.19, with another 55p to credit. Must get on the case!
Right - on to the next thing... (possibly another cup of tea...)8 -
I get paid 4 weekly, YNAB remains a source of confusion to me 🤔8

MB finished - up £31 today, bringing April's total to £87 so far. And I had a couple of small prolific studies come in while I was doing it, so I'm now at £2.19 in there, with £1.58 waiting. Done a blog post, and now I need to get off my backside and do something to the kitchen ceiling!
Still no word from visitors...8 -
Ok, tea drunk, budget rejigged - now April is fully funded, and when I get paid on 16th I can start funding May (and finish funding it when Mr Cheery's pension money arrives at the end of the month).
Really can't put the ceiling off any longer now...9
