Darn it, just lost my post!!
Anyway, I was saying I have eaten FAR too much sugar today, but that, a long chat with my sister, a bath, and FINALLY getting into positive figures for the month with MB, seems to be shifting me in the right direction 😊
Delighted about MB, can't believe it's taken til the 12th to get into positive figures though 😮 Certainly not for the faint hearted, and definitely glad I built up a good stash doing sports offers first. Anyway, I'm £22 up for the month now (after a £70 win, which shows you how far down I was, and how quickly it can change). Let's hope it keeps going up rather than down!
Saw the owl again tonight. It's a barn owl, out hunting in the dusk in our hay field, swooping and diving 😍9 -
That sounds fantastic! I have a view from my kitchen window of the trees in our little nature reserve which the crows currently use to nest in, but that's *really* not the same as an owl in a hayfield. Especially your own hayfield! Good for you.2023: the year I get to buy a car9

I hope it sticks around! Our 'barn' has no roof and is more a collection if stones than a barn so not sure it's roosting in there...
Bright and extremely breezy this morning. I confess I'm NOT a fan of the wind, and neither are the chickens.
Still, a reasonably productive morning so far.
MB is now up to £45 for the month. I did another Prolific survey, and I've cashed out £10.63 - when that's arrived from PayPal it can go straight to the kitchen fund.
Also spent some time looking at inspiring pictures of kitchens 😁 Need to pay the deposit today too 😊😊7 -
Right, another trip to the tip done 😮😮 This is 30 or 40 years of stuff picked up in skips etc and kept "just in case" and there's still quite a bit to go. On the list today was some old decorative biscuit tins (mostly without lids), a load of hideous old table cloths that came free with the table we got from Freegle (most now mouse-nibbled), and some old plastic planters and damaged beaded curtains. Our tip is good and has separate recycling facilities for most things, thankfully. In other times maybe we'd stick it all on Freegle and wait for people to collect, and maybe we would now if we were in town, but we're quite a hike from anywhere, and not sure I want to be encouraging a flurry of people all coming out for individual things right now...
Anyway. Prolific dosh has arrived and been transferred to the Kitchen Offset Fund, which now stands at £116.13.
Time for lunch (leftover aubergine parmigiana) and then a bit of kitchen ceiling I think!9 -
I've started realising that keeping things 'just in case' tends not to work unless you have the space and energy to deal with it. Otherwise it just becomes clutter - particularly if your storage isn't suitable and you end up with it just becoming homes for vermin. Things that could have been passed on end up as tip-fodder as no one wants those mouse-nibbled items! Well done for getting rid of it!6

I've barely even touched my stuff yet, it's all Mr Cheery's so far 😮 lots gs come in handy over the years (and sadly we do have plenty of space to store it 😂 ) but time to move on. I'l get to mine when the kitchen ceiling is up! 😂
Speaking of which... another two bits of plasterboard today, and only 6 to go until I hit the point where I need to leave the rest til the builders have been (they're going to put a few more bolts in to hold up the ceiling... ). Might try to do those tomorrow, although six might be pushing it in a day...
Things I DO need to do tomorrow though:
* prop up the bit of ceiling panel that came down in the offshot so it doesn't warp before the builders put it back 🙄
* pay builder deposit
*
Think that's it for NEED to do things. I'd also like to clear some of the mud from the chicken run, sow my loofah seeds, and do a bit of general clearing up. We'll see.9 -
You'll feel so much better for getting rid of the stuff Cheery - and it might make the attic less enticing for the mice! We'll make you a minimalist yet 🤣!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)
Cleared 🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️!!! In 5 years, 1 month and 29 days
Total amount repaid: £72,307.03. £1.10 repaid for every £1.00 borrowed
Finally earning interest instead of paying it!!!8 -
Cheery, I'd seen you mention loofah seeds before, but today it really caught my attention for some reason. And I found a National Trust link about actually growing your own and using them as kitchen sponges! Brilliant way to reduce your plastic use, is that what you're going to use them for?2023: the year I get to buy a car7

Yep, planning to use as kitchen sponges (and bath loofahs!) if any of them actually grow, that is... 😂 Not planted them yet, so not off to a good start!
Not much done yet today. Bit of MB, blog post, and some more sorting- we're about to take another load to the tip. And I've dug a couple of barrowloads of mud out of the chicken run and put in some more woodchip. And I've spoken to my mother, and pottered about trying to plan where things need to go in the new kitchen (oven, radiators etc).
Right. Tip. Ceiling. Loofahs.6 -
Please can you keep us updated on the loofahs, I'm intrigued.
My advice on planning the kitchen is to include many more sockets than you think you need.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
