Cheery's country living adventure

Ha, well having spent some time with cheap satin sheets (where there is high danger of whizzing to the other side of the room) these ones are like velcro in comparison
Finally got round to doing YNAB last night. Wondered why things were looking a little sparse in the budget but realised the monthly pension money will be here in a few days. Bank account looking healthy - but that's because I transferred the money to pay the tree man from the savings account. Must transfer some more as some of that has now drip fed into the regular savers.
Oh, and we bumped into the farmer the other day and told him which roof we'd decided on so the stable roof project should get going at some point. No idea when, if possible to get actual timescales as these things get fit in between other things, but should at least be over the winter. Feels good to be getting things ticked off the list!
Want to get some more DIY done this week. I've finished the ceiling painting now, so next task is to screw in a load of battens to hold up the insulation. I've already cut some, and even drilled holes in them (thanks, past me!!) so I'm going to fit those first before cutting any more. Might start gently and gather all the bits tonight - hammer, nails, screws, charge up drill, find the measuring stick I made.
Have a good day all. I've got a good one free of teaching and meetings! Well, just one meeting with someone nice about something nice so that doesn't count
Ooh, and I must remember to check the chemist has my prescription - I'll be SO cross if they don't, I have to chase it SO often and it's really quite dull!10 -
It sounds like good progress is being made on all fronts Cheery! And excellent that the only meeting is a nice one today 😁Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Indeed Vix, although it did all go downhill from there and wasn't the anticipated productive day I'd planned...
Ended up having a bit of a meltdown and in tears for several hours. Should probably should have just given the day up at lunchtime but instead soldiered on but got barely anything done
Anyway, Mr Cheery has rallied and helped me formulate a plan. He's run me a bath, and is making me sausage and mash for tea for when I get outI've got a video call with a pal, and then I'm being parceled off to bed with a book for a very early night. Hoping the world will feel brighter tomorrow.
Mr Cheery has also made me promise to take most of Thursday off as an emergency measure (goodness knows I've worked enough overtime lately, although my job doesn't really work like that). He's going to take Rusty to the vet on his own so I can just lounge around at home or something - it's a three hour round trip so quite an undertaking.
Taking next Thursday off too, and have a shuffled a couple of things to give me a little tiny bit of breathing space before then.
All most vexing, but we can't operate at peak performance indefinitely and I've been pretty damn productive and firing on all cylinders since September so it was probably inevitable I'd wobble at some point
Anyway. Bath. Sausages. Pal. Book. Bed. I'm sure that'll sort me out enough for now...
(Nothing financial to report. I ordered a pair of thermal gardening gloves which arrived today though and started putting together our seed order last night so plenty of chilly weather gardening coming up! Not tonight though 😂)7 -

Sounds as though a little bit of self-care is needed right now @Cheery_Daff. Hope you have a restful, restorative evening.

Thank you lovely people
Mr Cheery got off without a hitch (although Rusty was NOT impressed at being back in the car). I have cleared up the debris and am having a nice relaxed morning. Popped out to chat to a neighbour walking along the footpath with his dog, rang the doctor about a minor medical complaint that's been vexing me on and off all year, and now plotting and scheming with a notebook and a cuppa, which is one of my favourite things to do
Docs appointment at 2, online meeting at 4, and then I might have a nice bath. Might get outside for a bit in my new thermal gardening gloves before then7
