Missy, how very frustrating to be able to see keys but not reach them!! Most vexing. I do think of that every time I park near a drain 🙄 but fortunately not managed to actually so it yet...
As for a sock pattern - search for 'winwick mum sockalong' - that's the one I use. Breaks it down into lots of very small steps which is great if it's your first sock! I still use the pattern now after several pairs, it's not fancy but it is straightforward.
Sorry to hear you've been having your own key fiasco KC! Hope yours gets sorted soon. Not entirely sure what to do about ours - we now have no front door key at all... At least the back door, which is the one we use, is a motive lock so no chance of accidentally locking ourselves out... Might just put a new lock on the front door, seems the easiest way of dealing with it!
Well my holiday is NOT going to plan at all. The weather is pants for a start, and both of us are out of sorts for various reasons. Still, we had a friend to stay last night which was nice, and our garden shelter performed pretty well in the torrential rain and howling gales 🙄 we did contemplate coming into the house at one point but it was quite exciting being out there in the wildness. Didn't go to bed til 2am though and up again at 7 for chicken duties, so I've been tired today. Weather was so vile though that I took myself back off for a nap early evening, and am now tucked up in bed again so hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow. I did get a bit more scything done though! It's going to take me til Christmas at the rate I'm going mind you 😂
Adventure time tomorrow! I've booked a slot at a National Trust house and garden! I've packed lunch, as the website says both that the cafe seating is closed, AND that they're taking part in 'eat out to help out' (which doesn't include takeaway) so I figured I'd take my own lunch to avoid confusion. Looking forward to going somewhere else!
Right, best go to sleep I suppose...

Have a great day Cheery! I wonder if it doesn’t count as takeaway if you’re still eating on the property? Very confusing, wise to take a packed lunch!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Have a fantastic day at the NT place cheery.5

I did wonder that Vix, although at our local cafe it counts as 'takeaway' if you eat on the benches in the car park! So who knows.
Anyway, it'll stop me eating a big mound of cake if I take my own lunch...
Fixed my bike this morning! Well, put the replacement wheel on itNot sure that counts as 'fixing', but it now works, and I went to the trail and cycled 10 miles so all good! SO nice to be back out there cycling again - I was going several times a week, but then broke both bikes at the end of July and haven't been since.
I did notice that the sticker had been taken off the car parking sign, and now charges start at 10am rather than 9am. I wonder whether that was a seasonal thing? It'll make it more convenient for me (although will it make me more lazy?? I got out there early purely to avoid car parking charges and this might give me an extra hour in bedOr maybe allow me to go further!)
Right, best get driving. Lovely day at last!11 -
Evening MSE chums
Well I had a lovely day out! I hadn't realised that most NT places are still shut, this is one of only about 7 that are open again I think. I assume they've dropped the price (it was £8) as you couldn't access quite a lot of the house. But you could go through a few rooms, and I think they had more volunteer guides telling stories to keep things interesting. They'd adapted some of the displays to talk about lockdown etc too (in relation to things like scrapbooks, painting, reading etc).
The weather was nice so while it only took me about 20 mins to go through the house, I did linger in the gardens for a couple of hours. Some bits of the garden were shut too but there was plenty of space.
Two cafes, one more of a kiosk doing takeaway and the other with plenty of tables outside. I'd eaten my lunch in the garden, so just had a cuppa (they did try to sell me a cake for an extra 20p but I resisted for once!)
Went for a bit of a wander round the grounds but I've been proper tired today - cycled 10 miles this morning and walked 12,000 steps while I was out so not really surprising
I did get a but of scything in this evening, and ate my tea outside which I often don't get round to, but it was lovely, although the bitey insects were out so I expect to look rather eaten tomorrow...
Speaking of tomorrow, it seems the weather will be bad again and we'll be having an indoor day... I've got an appointment first thing, then maybe we'll manage a cafe trip, and I might do some more batch cooking and maybe even get on the case with the DIY...10 -
Ah so glad you a had a lovely day Cheery! Turning down cake at 20p though 😳. I hope you got some good sleep, weather is awful here today and it is very much an indoor day!9
